I would like to split a granite stone 4ft x 4ft x 4ft (approximately), and I recently found this product called crackamite. Crackamite is a combination of chemicals that expand when mixed with water over a period of 36 hours up to 12000 psi. Also they have an offer on their site for a free 20 kg bag if I pay for shipping.

I plan on splitting the rock from the top into two equal portions, or into four if possible.

What I want to know is what diameter drill bit I should use, how deep the holes should be, how many holes across for an even split... etc.

I will be using hammer drill for the drilling portion.

Any help is appreciated.

Why don't you ask the company that produces Crackamite for guidance?

I tried the little "ask a question" part on their site but when I submitted it there was some error.

I just want to crack a rock, reason is irrelevant.

If the reason is irrelivent then does it really matter how deep you drill and how far appart they are? Id look on other sites for help but if not id probably drill with a bit about half an inch wide or more (extreme i know but the bigger the space the more chemical shit you can fit in) and about 2/3 - 3/4 of the way through every half foot or so. Every 6 inches (total of 7 holes) should break it pretty nicely, and 2/3 - 3/4 through (or a little deeper) should help maximize pressure without it being TOO hard to break. Also maybe cap the top somehow? to get the greatest pressure outwards not up through the hole u drilled.
