A mod needs to be level-headed and have zok's interests in mind (and the forum's interests, as a result) and never act on their own impulses, emotions or agendas. They should not be above the rules or constantly toeing the line...

Being a mod shouldn't mean you're a celebrity. Really, I should think it more of a burden than anything... almost like a job :/ The job should go to someone who isn't rabid about doing it, and to someone who likes the forum and wants to keep it as clean as it is supposed to be.

Some of the onus is on us to tell these "idiots" when their posts are stupid and whatnot. If they only hear it from the mods and only hear praise from their two idiot friends then the obvious outcome would be them feeling persecuted or singled out by the mod.

Right, my suggestion is mainly a "best case scenario/Ideal world" thing...

I am all for a new regime of moderation though, which is free of drama.

Kinkou was demodded for "poking the bear" which... as far as I can tell is simply her rising to the occasion when people give her a hard time over zok modding her etc... I am not 100% against the decision to demod her. IMO, Mods should remain as drama-free as possible and be able to keep themselves from responding emotionally to conflict.

Meta acts emotionally out of his own anger and egoism and responds with even more anger and ego, so he was demodded.

Wires does the same thing. She's nothing but a bomb waiting to go off if you speak to her or about her wrong. She was demodded as well and subsequently remodded... Who can say for certain why she was remodded, I am sure there's speculation, but we'll never know.

We need new mods who can contain themselves and deal with conflict swiftly and maturely without the emotion. Hard to find, as people are... well, pretty much emotional creatures, but I am sure we have some community members who would make awesome moderators. We just have to pick them out and get them into the swing of things.

Everyone seems to keep pointing out that zoklet is nowhere near as awesome as totse, but everyone keeps forgetting that totse had 20 years to fully develop.

I think if Zok hits the giant reset button on the mods list, and re-establishes what he first aimed this site to be, and we go from there... we'll all be better off. It might take some time, and adjustment, but I think it would be best in the long run.

One more thing--Zok may not always be right, but he is always the boss. Staff who disagreed with him so strongly them they felt compelled to resign did the fitting and proper thing, sorry as I am to see some of them go.

Spectral....at this point I'm morbidly curious. Within these talks with Meta, has he expressed even the slightest remorse in the least? Not in regard to Totse/Zoklet, its users, and fellow mods.......I'm talking about just to YOU?

To tell you the truth, DaGuru, it's true he may have let the availability of almost total control get the better of him sometimes, in SlashNet, on Totse and here, but I still firmly believe he was an overall decent person. I don't hold any grudges against him. It's true there were things he did that got to me Big Time... like the time he single-handedly got my Totse moderator position yanked when he found out the administrator account hacker had put me in there, even though the whole time I was working at it, he was commending me for doing a good job... or the times he banned a few people who absolutely did not deserve it. But the thing is, there's a lot of bad going in the world... there's a lot of very bad people in the world... heck... there's even a lot of bad inside our very own hearts, and so we need to look for the good where the good can be found... and there was a lot of good things about Metaphysicist too. I can be satisfied thinking about the good things he did, because it's a fact that he DID do a lot of good things. There's some people that have no good at all in them, and I don't have a problem writing them clean off my books, but Metaphysicist was not one of them. Sure, he made a lot of mistakes, and a lot of waves, but take my word for it, DaGuru... there's a heart of gold in there. That's what I felt a loss about when he left, and that's what I was making commendation about. Not the bad, which was there, but the good, which was also there.

Zoklet is turning to shit because they are demodding for stupid shit. LEARN FROM YOUR FUCKING MISTAKES! Meta demodded doesn't sound too bad. Know why? Because nobody ever told him he cant infract people for being morons, and he did just that. He was a fucking egotistical asshole with nothing better to do but sit around on his computer every day and piss people off. He thought he was right and everyone else was wrong unless they licked his fucking butthole. He deserved this shit.
