View Full Version : How many of you are compulsive reloaders?

I just noticed recently that when I'm playing FPS games, I have to reload at every chance I get! It drives me crazy when I don't have a full clip. I have to reload my gun after every firefight, or even if I shoot only a few bullets, even just one, I need to have a full clip!
I was just playing Far Cry and I noticed myself reloading almost every few seconds, it was ridiculous. How many people here can relate?

I am. I don't have a problem with it myself, but it seems to annoy other people a great deal.
I just have to have a full mag.

They should make ALL shooters so that when you reload a non-empty magazine, you lose the bullets in that magazine. Plus, you shouldn't be allowed to have more than six magazines.
Who the fuck runs around with 500 bullets and an infinite amount of magazines?

I don't do it as compulsive but I like having maxium rounds loaded so I reload whenever I see a good time to.

but when you fire off 2 rounds from an AK at one of 3 terrorists, then duck behind cover and reload, it kind of ruins your game:(

This. I've died plenty of times because of this compulsion.

When I'm playing lazily (distracted/cba) I obsessively reload and die a lot because my semi-aggressive kill-push playstyle doesn't leave me too many quiet moments.
When concentrating I'll supress my reloading.
On a related note, who in CoD4 and WoW consciously make the effort to pistol swap in a firefight or hit reload instead through force of habit?

That would kill it for a lot of people but it would certainly be interesting. I think some of the more realistic shooters are like that.

In real life, if you tactically reload, you don't throw the magazine away like a dummy. What you should be asking for is a reload system that puts old magazines in after the full ones are depleted (Leading to 3 bullet magazine reloads)
I personally like the idea, and would love an ultra-realistic FPS/RPG (Excluding health regeneration, which would never be fun if I had to sit around in-game for 3 months to heal from a gunshot.)

Nope. I usually only reload when I get under 10 rounds left in the mag. Mainly due to the fact I'm not a fucking noob and can actually kill someone with less than 10 shots.

I am in games like Counter Strike, but Call Of Duty and Battlefield 2 has recently broken my reloading habits. I dont miss it much, I tend to get more kills now that I manage my ammo better. :D

Well honestly i LOVE to do this, i don't know why lol i just do, even if i had just shot like 2 bullets lol. i will admit though it has its downsides such as trying to kill 2 people and i get 1 and reload in a middle of a fight but i only do that if im not paying attention, and also if your sitting beside a "friend" who likes to hit you if your being "cheap" your going to get a lot of beatings if you cant stand up for yourself.

a lot of games do this ( i think some of the rainbow six series does), but then the developers have to decide whether or not to sacrifice realism for smooth gameplay, and in the end, gameplay is what matters i guess

That is what I said, dummy. You should be allowed to have no more than six magazines, taped together by 3. So you have two batches of 3 magazines, for a total of 180 bullets.
Being able to tape together magazines, and refilling them with found clips, would provide awesome reloading animations as well. Most video games have retarded or ugly reloading animations. Make those animations longer, cooler and more realistic. It would add to the both the difficulty and strategy of the game.

Yeah, you need to because you never know when someone is going to pop around a corner, and your only option is to fire as quickly as you can at him while moving a little to keep from being hit. One round can make all the difference.

I do this. I would hate to turn a corner, get into a firefight, only to realize I have one shot left.
The exception to this rule is games like Halo, with the reload + double melee trick. Then I have to have a full clip minus one shot.
I guess a second exception might be when I'm running scarce in my "large weapons" category. If I only have 2 rockets from a rocket launcher left, I may consider leaving one in my clip, one in my..belt...to make sure I don't waste the second one.

I reload every chance I get but not obsessively or compulsively. I used to until I used the m60e4 on multiplayer in cod4 and broke myself of the habit.

If I'm in the middle of an intense fight, I usually just shoot the entire clip and then reload. But otherwise, I reload all the time. It just makes sense cause you can pick up more ammo, and you obviously have more rounds to fire if you're surprised.

I do. And doing it is just being careful, specially in online FPS.
