What he said ^.
Obama's not even president yet, and he's managed to go back on many of his promises. I knew it was going to happen, I told people it was gong to happen, yet all I heard was, "YEah!! obama FTW!!11 lol! yeah!!"
That being said, I was no McCain fan either, but it just seems to me that a lot of people let a poet lie to them without really looking at his stances on issues.

I think it is funny how all the self-righteous American idiots suddenly turned into political experts around the 2008 elections. You have a group of people who have never cared about US politics before, and won't care ever again, acting as if Jesus himself hath cometh down from the land of the Gods to save America and its people. Barack Obama is being tossed into the Oval Office with a few negative trillion dollars. The United State's people believe that this man, who has never served as a governor or mayor, can effectively govern their nation out of the shithole it is in. Okay, fine, so maybe we do have a miracle man at our disposal... how does he plan to solve this debt?
Decrease national revenue and more spend money... like... take in less and spend more?!?! It's like fucking for virginity!!!

He totally sucks. I'm 16 and I've been following politics since I was 11 or so, and have been watching the news more and more ever since. I know that Bush wasn't the greatest president (God knows i'll get some crap about this). But at least Bush has managed to keep war off of OUR soil for 8 years now. He has done good deeds, and he has done his fair share of stupid remarks, incidents and has been made fun of countless times. I think its just absolute BS about how much crap people give him, and you can ask almost ANYONE (especially a liberal) about GWBush, and they will tell you "Oh GOD, WHAT A DUMBASS!". But i'm ranting about the past, here is what helped make america's tomorrow:
http://howobamagotelected.com/
make sure you watch the one with the black guy in the cap and glasses. this is the one that taught me to hate some americans with an unknown passion. The first video on Palin is good too. I cant wait for this documentary.
And another thing, did anyone happen to see the Political Forum at Sattleback Church? I suggest you watch it, some good shit right there.
 This concludes my Conservative rant.. :bluewink:

Obama is no other than other puppets.
582. Robert Gates' career prolonged for Iran war (1/15/08)
Petro dollar benefits US economy a lot. When Iran abandons dollar as oil trading currency, it shakes dollar foundation significantly. To stabilize the dollar position, the war on Iran is inevitable. The latest attempt to war on Iran was failed in August 2008. Next month, in September, a financial crisis is created to save the dollar. The financial crisis push people to change the investment into cash - the dollar, and drives the dollar into a balloon - US bond. The Inside Group will keep that balloon for months, no longer than a year. They will keep that balloon until the Iran war break out.
The reason I said so is out of a decision made by the President elect - Obama. He decides to let Bush's Defense Secretary - Robert Gates to stay in chair for one more year. It means the Inside group still wants to finish Iran war within a year. They maintain that dollar balloon from popping until the war comes.
Robert Gates is a well selected neo-con follower. He is no other than Rumsfeld, Bush and Ashcroft. He has been chosen to command the soured Iran war of 2008 August. No one is more familiar with that war project then him. No one will work better than him with that military official group inside Pentagon which developed the Iran war project. It was an urgent war. If Bush can't stay in President seat, Gates will be the right person to stay for the war.
Barak Obama won the president election by his slogan "change". One important reason he won the campaign is because he said he opposes Iraq war. But when it touches the interest of the Inside Group, he has to obey. In an area where needs an utter "change", he reacts with "un change". He says he opposes Iraq war, because the bird is held in hand already. It doesn't cost anything but a lip service. But when his master gave an order, he will hug another war.
Politicians are picked up from the followers of the Inside Group. High ranking politicians have been all screened tier upon tier. They are all the same even though they pretend to be different by sticking a different sign of donkey or elephant. When people are tired of a white wolf, they gave you a black one. But on the core it's the same. Wolf won't change its habit to eat lamb.
There is a Chinese fable: Three for breakfast and four for super. It says a monkey keeper gave his monkey four nuts in breakfast and three for supper. Monkey felt hungry and protested. The keeper thought for a while than pretended compromise. He said, "OK, you win, I will give you three nuts in morning and four in the evening." Monkey thought it won because the keeper changed three into four for supper. So when Obama gives you four nuts for supper but three in the morning, do you think there is a change?

Its a bit late and futile to start campaigning to make him president (going what I know see to be a very misleading thread title)
I came to this forum to seek people who kept objective view on the world...
1. Both Republicans and Democrats (and most other parties) are equally shitty
2. Politics these days is about charisma. Surprised McCain didn't get elected?
3. I will not advocate for any politician I do not personally know for these reasons.
In retrospect of kathaksung:
It should come to no surprise for most that:
Democrats ~ Republicans
Democrats and Republicans these days are too similar. It gives the voters the impression they have choice. Any one who wishes to argue, make a new thread. I'll be waiting.

Well a lot there are a lot of public university basketball teams that compete d1 so I guess you could say it is.... partially nationalized? I didn't look at your link because I didn't care
Describing Obama as a powerless puppet/figurehead is naive and hypocritical. He obviously won't reign supreme over the country, but he will be the single most powerful man in the country (just as any other president), and he will have the power to manipulate the direction that the country is heading.
How is hypocritical to describe him a mere puppet? Simple. On the one hand, you guys will scapegoat Bush or Cheney as being single-handedly responsible for America's troubles, and yet you sit back pessimistically and whine that the new president can't possible change anything.
Will Obama drastically change this nation's policies in 4 years? Probably not, but you can't really campaign on the promise of "gradual improvement over the next decade".
Anyways, I'm looking forward to change. America has a lot to learn from other Western countries, particularly in areas of health and education.

Conservatives saying that Bush has kept America safe for the last 8 years reminds me of Lisa Simpson making a similar claim regarding her ownership of a rock that kept tigers away.
Would any of you care to buy a rock to keep tigers away? Cause I'm more then willing to sell some to you ; )

That being said - Obama does seem to be moving more towards cente, but this is not 'going back' on his promises. Originally he said he was going to begin leaving Iraq immediately for example - a few months ago he met with al-maliki and got him to agree to a removal timetable, which the Bush admin. immediately agreed with.
People didn't vote Obama in on a wish and a prayer, but because his core values align with those of the American spirit. Gone are the years of government approved torture, spying on citizens, hawkish military policy, and carelessness in the markets - although the Republicans have left quite the mess for him to clean, one which we all hope he is able to - unless having China as the foremost global power is a world you want to live in.

Although I generally agree with you, I just have to roll my eyes whenever I hear some pussy whine about "torture". Waterboarding is a few moments of sheer terror. Stop being a fucking pansy when the government authorizes it's use on people who want to blow you up or cut off your head.
The only issue should be whether or not it's an effective interrogation tactic. There's good evidence that torture and harsh interrogations are NOT effective as a general policy, and that should be the focus. It's not like the government is pulling out teeth and electrocuting people's balls. The super-liberal, bleeding heart morons that can't handle the fact that you sometimes need to scare and intimidate people during an intimidation should be sterilized.

it grinds my gears it takes a presidential election for people to vote, where their singular vote matters less, but they can't be arsed to visit a town meeting, or vote something locally..

HAHAH OMG FURAK, that was funny as hell! and vilbe, I totally agree with you. You're very practical. I don't think that people know that it's more their state's politicians vote that matters, rather than theirs. If I'm not mistaken, that's how Bush got in against Gore right? My friends always a dick about it, saying that it was set up or something.
