I'm making a point that quite a number of people have gone unrecognised for good deeds while rewards are going to be handed to people for stupid selfish things.

I'm an administrator, ergo, I can decide for myself when to give someone rep. I've already given reputation to a number of people for making really good or valuable posts. I don't see how this is different. In fact, you can also decide when you want to give someone rep.

As far as custom titles go, I see it as a suitable prize for a number of reasons: it's unobtrusive, it doesn't affect their account's functionality, and it allows for a tiny bit of customization/flavor that a lot of users would find to be proper incentive for doing something comparatively small. If it proves to be a problem or complication for some reason, it will, of course, be removed.
