Some of those really big ones that cover the entire eye are incredibly irritating, and a huge pain in the arse to actually get in. The ones that are normal contact sized or just slightly bigger are fine.

Those total white outs would be pretty awesome, as well as the cat eyes. Im not very interested in many of the others, and like dude above me said, the ones that cover the whole eye would be really hard to get in

You've used these things? I think the blind eye ones are normal sized. I can't see why they'd have to be expensive too since they're only white contact lenses. Those yellow crow eyes are pretty cool too.

I know several people who have used them for various reasons including costumes, novelty, and film.

The large ones cover the entire surface of the eye and feel quite weird, especially when blinking. They become highly irritating very quickly due to the size, and because there is no area left bare for oxygen exchange. Smaller prescription lenses "breathe" whereas these tend not to.

The reason for the cost?
They are quite expensive to manufacture. Regular lenses are made in large quantities so they are cheaper because of that, but in lab conditions and out of special plastic so that bumps the price. They have to be FDA certified so that bumps the price further. Same applies to these decorative ones, but they are not mass produced, so price goes up.
