torrentz.com is a good place to go. That site searches for torrents on other sites like piratebay and mininova. I get most of my anime from thar.
Also Boxtorrents. They specialize in torrents for anime, manga, and OST's. They have everything. Problem with them is that, if you don't seed enough, you get put on their leecher list and then you can't download anymore.
Hulu is good for streaming anime if you don't mind dubs. Fairly good quality streams. Adult Swim's website also has a lot of shows that they've played in the past. Veoh as well but they have more subbed stuff.
There's more sites for decent streams, but most of them link to anime hosted on sites like Veoh so meh.
Check teh anime resources thread. We're trying to get a good list of links going in there.

Torrents, how else?
animesuki
tokyo toshokan
These two are my picks for anime torrent sites. Tokyo Toshokan also has manga, OSTs, hentai, CG collections, raws, etc.
OneManga is a good site for reading manga online. They have tons of series.
Also, many sub groups have their own websites.

Tokyo Toshokan for recent, unlicensed subs.
Various private trackers for licensed DVD/BDrips.
For manga it's generally #lurk or 4chan /rs/

Applicate your google-fu to find torrents. Simple enough.

I remember downloading anime from kazaa back in the day... those were the times, the quality was so terrible, but it was the only way we knew haha

Oh yes, XDCC is still good, although I tend to get better speeds off a relatively well seeded torrent.

Torrents sucks imo, to many leechers and gay slow!
Ummm... how about actually BUYING the DVtehehehe couldn't even keep a straight face there, sorry. As others have said, Tokyotosho is definitely the way to go for newer stuff. Older material is hit or miss there, but Boxtorrents seems to cover that territory pretty nicely. Also, remember to use your Boxtorrents account to search for the links, but log out before downloading the actual torrent so that you don't have to worry about ratios.

We've covered a million and one ways to download anime, but nobody's mentioned buying it on DVD. Well...nobody that was srs anyway. :p
There's only a couple of series that I rly like enough to buy (Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, FLCL, Lain), but does anybody know any good sites besides Amazon or Best Buy? Any good websites that specialize in anime collections?

When I want to buy anime, I usually go to Yes Asia (http://www.yesasia.com), but then a bunch of what I buy is live action shizz too.
