While Widmore uses all the money he has at his disposal in order to gain control of the Island (In other words, he's almost trying to BUY his way back to the Island) , Linus using almost nothing but his wits.

i like his demeanor alot but im not sure if he is the good guy or not, i think his intentions are good but he is just a pawn of someone else

I love how brilliant and passionate he is. Not to mention completely and utterly devoted to getting back to the Island.
