Hi guys. I'm sure you're all aware of the Australian gun laws and how tight they are and all that. I've got enough info on the subject but what I was wondering was if anyone knew of a rifle range in Sydney. I know of one gun club but it's for pistols only and for whatever reason I'm more keen on learning to shoot a rifle.

Sorry I can't help too much other than that mate. I moved to Tassie from Sydney when I was like 12 so I wasn't going to the range back then (private property shooting mainly).

Contact the nearest SSAA branch and they should be able to point you in the right direction if not set you up with a memebership.

Yup, SSAA is your best bet (You need to be a SSAA member to join a club anyway). IIRC they list a few ranges for each state on their website, so just find one close to you that does what you're interested in and give the President or w/e a call to find out what dates they shoot.

Also, when applying for your license, you'd probably be better off putting your reason as "Recreational hunting & Vermin control" rather that "Target shooting" because with the target one you need to attend, I think it 6 times a year for rifles in order to keep your license.
