I HAVE made observations based on what people say, but there is a world of difference between making an unflattering observation and making an insult. Well yeah, I have referred to myself as more highly spiritually evolved than most here. Um, so what? I didn't get modded because of my good looks, handsome rascal though I may be. Thing is--and the point which I keep trying and trying to make clear--is that that does not make me BETTER than anyone else. I am shorter and poorer than most of the membership and have worse eyesight (cataracts, astigmatism, presbyopia)--does that make me worse? I don't think so. "Better at" or "better off" does not in any way equate with "better." Same with "worse."

If the mod of the tat forum said he had more and/or better tats than most other members, would that make him superior? I don't think so. Likewise with any other forum--mods are expected to have powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men. Okay, wait--that's Superman. We ARE supposed to have some expertise.

The only reason I am where I am spiritually is because I have been working at it off and on FOR FIFTY YEARS. If you work at anything for that long and don't get fairly good at it, you are in sad shape indeed. For the past six years or so--now that I finally quit drinking--I have made great strides. For the past twenty years , I have had the great advantage of having a mentor in the person of my wife, one of the most highly evolved beings on the planet. Again, she is no better than anyone else.

That said, I am keenly aware of my imperfections. Maintaining a high level of spirituality requires constant vigilance and practice, and I do slack off from time to time. I think I'm coming up on 700 posts here, had almost 20,000 on totse--not all of them (but I would hope the majority) reflected my greatest conception of self. There have been times when I "forgot I was enlightened" (to use Robert Anton Wilson's wonderful phrase) and lashed back at someone who lashed out at me first , allowing my ego to hold sway over my essential self. Over the years, I have offered numerous apologies for such behavior.

But as a general rule and practice, I strive to address principles and not personalities. If you can cite a specific example of some case where I "was clearly attacking the man", I would be grateful.
