I have literally watched hundreds of people take their last breath. Dr Kavorkian could have made taking their last breaths so much easier. He has begun what is now a controversy to what I feel will become one of the accepted pre-death choices. Just as cremation has become more and more popular, having been controversial in the past, so too, will euthanasia be welcomed for humans - once only acceptable for our beloved pets.

Yes, why is euthanasia humane for animals and not terminally ill patients? Obviously it is a choice that must be well thought out and managed. Not only are people spared painful suffering, but keeping these individuals on life support is fiscally irresponsible and a drain on resources. We are supposedly "free" all of our lives, but in the end, we cannot freely choose to die with dignity - assisted by a professional.
