Take this online quiz and post the results or tell us what you already think about yourself and your life.

Take the quiz at: http://quizfarm.com/quizzes/new/arocoun/what-philosophy-do-you-follow-v103/

Here are my results from the online quiz:

You Scored as Nihilism

Your life is marked by strong Nihilism: You feel that nothing in the world, even your life, has much or any meaning.

"For out of fear and need each religion is born, creeping into existence on the byways of reason."
"There are no facts, only interpretations."
“Every belief, every considering something-true, is necessarily false because there is simply no true world”
--Friedrich Nietzsche

Well according to that quiz:

Your life is guided by the principles of Hedonism: You believe that pleasure is a great, or the greatest, good; and you try to enjoy life’s pleasures as much as you can. “Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die!”

Your life is very much guided by the concept of Egoism: You work primarily to promote your own interests.

“I swear by my life, and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine.”
“I am not primarily an advocate of capitalism, but of egoism; and I am not primarily an advocate of egoism, but of reason. And questions like whether or not I believe in eye for an eye are irrelevant as I usually prefer two eyes for an eye etc.

U Scored as Utilitarianism

Your life is guided by the principles of Utilitarianism: You seek the greatest good for the greatest number. “The said truth is that it is the greatest happiness of the greatest number that is the measure of right and wrong.

Jeremy Bentham “Whenever the general disposition of the people is such, that each individual regards those only of his interests which are selfish, and does not dwell on, or concern himself for, his share of the general interest, in such a state of things, good government is impossible.” -John Stuart Mill

The tiebreaking question was something like between putting the good of others before myself or thinking deeply about life issues? Are those conflicting?

I like to think that my approach to philosophy is more through personal experience, then an academic study.I describe myself as monotheistic, and most of my perspective is hermetic.

Those are my results, and I think the test is--well, for want of a more precise term, bullshit. For one thing, it is rife with value-laden terms ("should", for one) and it seems not to grok that at the Highest Level, we are all one, so whatever we do that is best for ourself is best for all--thus, my speciously high "hedonism" and "strong egoism" scores. Plus I could not answer the tie-breaker question because of a fucking popup ad that wouldn't go away.

The whole thing is not so much about R&S as philosophy per se, so I am moving this to the humanities forum.
