As I look back fondly on my days as a senior english major, it makes more and more sense that some guy could snap and kill a lot of people. I am not excusing or condoning his actions in the least. But college is stressful; it's that stress, and the time-management, survival in the machine that your degree countes for, not "english literature" or whatever. Between the general workload of most colleges, the pressure of exams and finals, the pressures of Grad School and beyond...
College is just a four-year trauma for a lot of people.
And on a seperate note, I feel very badly for the family of the shooters. No doubt they will have their family life and parenting style picked apart by the media, and the name and memory of their son will now live forever more in infamy for the rest of the world. A parent's nightmare, no doubt.
p.s. - the guy was South Korean

What an APT comparison that demonstrates why the AVAILABILITY OF GUNS is not to blame in a SCHOOL SHOOTING. Of course! If he hadn't used guns, he would have used a bomb, just like that one time...in the 20's. As much as I like the idea of having the freedom to own firearms, this argument is severely flawed.
Not that a flawed analogy is anything new in the news...
