Cheap means not only how much you have to pay for a hotel/food but also how much it costs to get there. India might be cheap as fuck, but if you have to spend $1000 on a flight there then it doesn't really count.

I'm departing from Boston or New York City sometime this summer to go somewhere in another country for a week or so. I really don't care where it is, somewhere cool. I've already done the UK, Germany, France, Australia thing, not that those are cheap places to visit by any means.

Ideas?

I think your vision of cheap may be different to ours but. . . If you can get to UK, Germany, France cheapish just use them as connecting flights. . . from there take ryanair. . . Otherwise, being American, wouldnt South America be a good, cheap place to head?

If you depart from NYC, flights to Europe will be comparably cheap. Fly to London, Paris or Frankfurt and catch a Ryanair flight to somewhere in Central/Eastern Europe (but not too "eastern" - Belarus, Ukraine and European Russia are very expensive from what I hear). Alternatively, pretty much all of Latin America is cheap as shit, but getting around will add up, so you might just want to base yourself somewhere. I'd recommend Costa Rica - it'd be easy to explore Central America from there and flights can't be too bad on the wallet.

who ever said central america was cheap, a flight from vancouver to el salvador is like 800-1200 bucks depending on the season.
