View Full Version : [L]users Who Fold Their Jim-Jams And Who Piss Me Off!

It pisses me off when regs start on about 'mods v. users'. Usually the poster is some HBtard with a couple of 'oh sooo unjust' infractions to their name (and No I don't necessarily mean our friend with the early morning diarrhoea!).
What they always seem to forget is that us mods ARE users. We were users often long before the person grizzling was even old enough to have a computer in his bedroom.
Infact it would be fair to say that most mods are Uber-Users. With a few, mainly recent inglorious exceptions, most of the mods were users of their forum(s) for years and several thousand posts before they were moderlaterized. Hell there was a time when you needed 10K of posts and be from Ohio or Cali to even be considered for a modship!
I was a regular poster on various forums here long before I was modded. It may suprise some of you that I was actually first suggested for modship for Gearheads and T&T-long before I was eventually modded for S&A.
Mods are users, we just have a job added on. Take Euda and SotB, both recently demodded. Both continued to be users. Get it? They CONTINUED, they didn't 'go back' to being users, they already were.

Fap
Jerk off.
No, I wouldn't say that I just went back to being a regular; it was a process and took a little bit of time, though not a lot. However, I can't speak for Slave of the Beast.
It took some time to grow accustomed to posting without all the moderator drama. Beyond that, you get to skip out on explaining and justifying things, without believing that anybody's actually taking something away from what you're putting forward.
totse has lost posters that were removed from the moderator position; take sambob for instance. No forum should feel like a job or heavy responsibility; hell, no job should feel like a job. If it starts weighing on a person's mind, it's time to walk away or take a break. Beyond that, there have been quite a few moderators that weren't regulars. When was the last time a regular from SG moderated the forum?
More than a few times, moderators have been culled for a lack of posting. People get warned, a few make some token posts, and then things continue on their merry way.
The part that makes me shake my head is that people remember that I moderated hb, but they tend to overlook Printed Matter, Moving Pictures, and Headshrinkers.
Moderation is simply a service. And most of the time, that service isn't necessary.

That just made me realize we seem to have lost TruckFixr in the migration. He was a wealth of knowledge in both things automotive and not.

Idiot for not recognizing sarcasm? Check.
Attacking my infractions but being unable to respond when I give legitimate reasons for why they were bullshit? Check.
Perpetuating stereotypes? Check.
Yep, you're a fucking moron. Please go back to your elementary school and ask your kindergarten teacher why making rash generalizations about large groups of people is one of the hallmarks of stupidity. She might even be able let you in on the myriad of ways in which you're a dumbass.

It's an emoticon, dipshit. The fact that you don't understand that it isn't meant for anything but conveying an emotion shows that you're the dumbass here (and let's not forget jackketch). Why not insult the  or the ? How about the letter "k"? After all, none of these things by themselves are "witty or smart enough to give posts validity."

If you don't think things change from the moment you become a mod, then you've been doing it for way to long AND your delusional among other things. Being a mod is not the same as being a regular, though DUH Captain Obvious, we're all users.
Your recent admission to being part of the old totse B&M crowd speaks volumes about your irrational hatred of HB, for there are others like you that were never happy after wintermute. GET OVER IT! You have your little B&M here, make of it what you will and put a steam valve in that jugular.

Stop using the face palm smiley, it only tells everyone that you're a HBtard.
That stupid smiley is not owned by a forum and there are plenty of HB'ers that dislike it, though the fap smiley was immensely worse.
I really don't think It's possible for you to do your job fairly. You should be made a regular until you cool off.

Well, being on neither side... I am neither a mod (I have been a reg for quite a long-ass time) nor am I an "HB'er"... I can definitely see both sides of things.
I think some of our mods could do with a little less bitching about the general populace of the boards... and more positive, helpful posting. It makes the entire board look bad when your mods are starting drama-inspiring threads and jumping into every reg-created drama-inspiring thread they can. I realize that this IS the B&M of Zoklet, but that doesn't change the fact that it gives the entire 'upper crust' of Zoklet a bad name and actually does more to reinforce the idea that the moderators of Zoklet somehow feel leagues better and more important than the regulars.
The same basic thing can be said of a handful of choice regs. Stop making these damn "DOWN WITH THE MODS" threads. Stop posting like assholes. Stop derailing threads. And for fucks sake, stop blowing every tiny thing out of proportion. If you believe that you have been unfairly infracted by a moderator, take it up with Zok or Deus... I'd recommend Zok, as he is pretty much the most chill guy ever and doesn't succumb easily to drama. Don't be a douche when you contact Zok. State what happened, and why you feel it was unfair and leave it at that. If you fly off the handle, you are likely not to be heard. If Zok doesn't feel it was unfair, he'll probably tell you why. Take the answer respectfully and go on your merry way. This behavior will likely earn you more respect from Zok and the moderators instead of the alternative... which is acting a damn fool (however warranted) and further earning their ire.
One of the biggest issues with Zoklet is that there aren't enough posters to keep content high without these shit drama threads. But, do you honestly think that constant squabbling between the mods and regs is going to make this place attractive to potential new users? I reckon not, as we've already seen quite a few of our long-time regs (AND mods) leave.
Everyone is bitching about how terrible things are, but has anyone stopped to think that maybe it's their own behavior that is causing a large portion of the problem? Anyone who starts these threads is partially to blame. Everyone who jumps in with guns a-blazing and slinging insults at each other, mods, regs, admins and the forum are partially to blame. ME jumping in and tossing MY two cents in is partially to blame. This problem isn't going to go away if no one will let it.
Real, valid, mature complaint should be taken up with an admin, or the mod/reg with which they have the complaint. These threads are unnecessary and a drain on the community.
Note: jackketch, I am not specifically targeting you here... nor am I trying to be openly insulting to you or anyone else. These are just my observations and opinions; your thread just happens to be here and is a prime example of what I am talking about, and I've been thinking about this for awhile here and thought I might as well get it out there.
