Yeah, so I have a very visible scar right there and I want a tattoo to cover it up... I am female so nothing like a nude mermaid or anything.

Something simple and not gay that I could work from?

* For the record, that wrist is not mine... it's a random picture off Google. :hrmph:

Or you could ware your scars with pride?

But really if its not just a pic off google can we get a better pic of the area being tattooed?

I dunno, I think scars add character. Can be totally sexy.

Pic of wrist would be better to give suggestions.

Is your wrist that skinny? It'll be hard to get something good if it's on the side of the wrist like that. It'll have to wrap-around alot.

How about a tattoo that reads "scars are tattoos with better stories" wrapping around your wrist but instead of the word 'scars,' have your scar there.

If you do this, make sure you actually have a good story. Might I suggest the angry homeless person attempted shanking or 17 Puerto Rican children approach?

Haha nice. But no I really just don't like looking at it at all. It's a stupid scar with an even stupider story.

And my wrist looks just like that (without that dumb heart)... it's just the side of the wrist, a really awkward spot which is why I can't even find a decent google pic of the area.

EDIT:
here's one... that area where the black dot is, I have a long wide scar there.

I'm thinking a single angel wing of some sort... is that extremely gay?

Its not only extremely gay and overdone, its unorginal. Dear lord. Tacky, low class shit.

And you do realize the tattoo would, in all likelihood, bring more attention to your scar?

Why not "whoops"?

Well, you do wield the truth sir... but I still like the wing. I can't help it, it's just cute.

Is a tattoo that wraps around your wrist something you'd considered? Or to you only want something small to cover that spot?

Maybe on a guy. Not really on a girl.

As for the wraparound idea, that's just a little too hardcore for me.

This man. I'm not going to pretend I know you but still.. Wear your scars with pride, or as a reminder..
If you really think you want to get a tat you shouldn't need to be asking here, it's your body, your choice, your consequence. It's kinda hard for me to give an opinion on what you should get anyway without a pic of the thing. I've got a little self done reverse crusafix pretty much exactly where your scar is..

Play a game of Tic-tac-toe with the Tattoo Artist on the scarred area, play carefully though or your failiure will haunt you for the rest of your life.

My sister is a tattoo artist, but she takes pride in her work and won't tattoo any asian calligraphy on anyone unless she gets confirmation from someone who understands it well enough to know exactly what it means and if its done correctly, too many people think that they are getting something that means love, or pride or whatever and it's not even close.

and OP: that's a shitty spot for a tattoo, I would leave the scar...

What is the scar like? It doesn't stick out, does it?

Talk to the tattoo people first, sometimes scars are hard to tat on.

But you could get flowers wrapping around the entire wrist.

Lulzar, you obviously don't know anything about Kanji. Stop acting like you do. And I know what it means. And even if it were "wrong", it would still mean the same to me. And that's all that matters.

The strokes aren't wrong at all, it's Traditional Chinese. The one you are referring to is simplified Chinese, which I think looks like shit.
愛 vs. 爱
the difference between the two is the traditional has a "heart (心)" in it, which the simplified took out. (is there a way to make the fonts bigger?)
And that can also be Japanese too. It's pronounced "Ai" in both Japanese and Chinese.

Forget about the scar, a tattoo will probably end up looking worse one way or another. You will end up regretting getting a tattoo there and you will probably end up beng less self-conscious about the scar after a while.

Yus, and I'm working on the second one.

The first one is just something simple I tag every interesting place I go to with

You've got a small scar so a small tattoo is what's needed.

Really, think of something that means something to you. Just how big is the scar we're talking about. If you're scared to tell, show me a picture of it in a PM. a tattoo will bring attention to the area.

No. Its quite the opposite actually. She is getting a tattoo in an attempt to mess with a part of her that makes her unique because of her insecurity, instead of simply being proud of it and confident in her individuality. Scars, literal or not, are always more reason to walk tall.

Individualism need always be nurtured.

Some of my scars faded some with lots of use. None went away though.. but if yours is small enough maybe?

I would embrace my scars and walk tall if it was a cool looking scar. But it's not. And it doesn't come with an awesome set of memories so I'd rather not have it at all if possible. It's not really an insecurity... it's just a really ugly scar, is all.

As for getting rid of it, it's too old to change with any kind of ointment. It's here to stay unless I do something about it.

Keep ideas coming!

wuts ur intrests n shit

forreal, it's words, shapes, or shit like that mostly for wrists. I like the idea of a single gem covering it. Like a purple diamond or something, maybe with sparkles or something around it. Then a smaller blue one propped next to it. Then have a little bit of shading behind it. That's why I imagine atleast.

I always like the look of a one word saying on a woman wrist. I would imagine it would hurt quite a bit, plus you would have trouble at many jobs, though the public opinion towards tattoos is slowly changing.

One word? Like "Faith" and "Courage"? I always thought those were kind of lame and trashy.

According to one of my tattooists, covering up scars with tat's aren't an especially good idea, the skin doesn't take the ink very well as it's stiffer and so on, and you might not end up with a result you'd still appreciate several years down the line...

Personally I wear my scars as well as my ink with pride, every one of them tells a story be it good, bad, stupid, heroic, etc. but they're mine...
