When I click "Pictures" on the start menu, windows explorer just hangs and then I have to manually close the window. I tried deleting all the pictures in the folder but that didn't work. I made sure that the shortcut led to the right path and it does, so I don't know that the problem is. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Do photos display in thumbnail view?
If it does and you have a large amount of photos it can be daunting on your system.

Yes, but I deleted all of my pictures and yet the problem persists.

so your folder is empty?
try switching to classic theme restart and try again.

Unfortunately that didn't work. I think it may just be a problem with the start menu shortcut because I can access my pictures by going, Computer>C:>Users>(my name)>Pictures, but I right clicked the start menu shortcut and it points there, so I don't know what the problem is.

strange. I'm outa ideas.
try using the classic menu (like the one in <win2k) and see what happens.
Op, delete the Thumbs.db and see if it works. Delete the folder just in case.

A repair install off your vista disk would probably fix this.

I did a system restore and it works now.
