Zork Tribute

I just love Zork so much. My mama raised me on stew of grue. When I wield a magic sword and slice that pesky thief I feel so powerful. I am a master maze-navigator. I control the dam like I was born to do it. I am the adventurer.

Anyone else like Zork?

I'm thinking of creating an IRC bot that lets you play Zork. Good idea?

It's a Zork tribute (the father of all computer games, the [almost] original adventure game), not Zok.

Zork is so very worthy of a tribute. I grew up on Zork and Myst. If it hadn't been for those those two, Zork especially, I probably wouldn't care about video games today.

Time to re-install, I think.

When I saw the name of this forum, I thought it was about Zork. I was sadly mistaken.

Zork is so very worthy of a tribute. I grew up on Zork and Myst. If it hadn't been for those those two, Zork especially, I probably wouldn't care about video games today.

I remember playing the old text-only versions of Zork, and thinking about how deceptively easy it is to get pulled into a game when so much of the experience is in your own head.

If you could build a bot (or just a simply program) to make a new Zork adventure, I would give you mad props (and probably rep). It's also be cool if we found a way to host user-generated content like that somewhere on the site, though that call is ultimately Zok's.

I was thinking of using the original Zork adventure (the text-only Zork 1). A new Zork adventure would also be cool! I'll start thinking about it. Is there anyone here who might be able to handle the story / design bit? I can do the programming, but I'm not great at storywriting.

Also, what about this - enhance the original Zork with images of the locations and objects and characters? Again, I can do the programming for this kind of thing, but the graphics design I'm kind of lost at.
