I'm taking a holiday in Cambodia (lol) in a few days with my girlfriend. We're only going to be there for about 5 days, so we only have time to visit Siem Reap (for Angkor Wat, obviously) and Phnom Penh.

Anybody been who has any recommendations of things to see/do/eat?

2 Days!

I am pretty envious. I really want to tour around that whole coast by oldschool motorbike. Drive up to the Top End (Northern Aust), jump across to Indonesia then make my way north via Borneo (Sarawak!), then do an oldschool motorbike trip of Cambodia/Vietnam/Thailand after I've stayed there for a while (to get bearings) and jet home. Posting gifts and items home the whole way. Yes, I'd get shot / step on a landmine by the last leg.

Very envious, just visiting would be awesome. Even to "rough it" as I would like you need quite a bit of financial security, I would think. Probably be a good thing to do when I inevitabley fuck my life up big time here.

Take lots of photos where you can mate, and post in Globetrotters I beg you :D.

Would probably establish a 'base' in Thailand before the motorcycle journey/ies, because day trips aren't anywhere near as good as half a week+ trips, but at the same time nobody wants to travel heavy all the time. Plus it might be nice to not be on a bike the whole time. :)

What is your itinerary, plans, and goals? I'd also be interested to see what you say when you come back. Farken cool Atrain.

Well, I know my brother did a motorcycle trip through Vietnam that shadowed the Ho Chi Minh trail. He said that was pretty amazing. Other people who I've talked to who have done the same thing say that they get pretty sore from the bike pretty quickly and need to take pretty regular breaks.

Try the fruit stands; they're supposed to have some excellent fresh stuff.

Get your hands on some bok l'hong and don't be afraid to try the curry soups. Curry soups are delicious.

I had to talk to a Cambodian friend of mine to find out; apparently he really misses good samlor.

Just got back into Singapore tonight. I'll update with some stories and pictures when I get them uploaded. I'm off to bed for now!

Sure, but I didn't take pictures of everything I did. Most of my pictures come from Angkor Wat and the surrounding temples in Siem Reap. We also went to Phnom Penh, because I have some friends living there, and we got to see a lot of what the city-life in Cambodia is like.
