...places a bad name on people like me who believe in equal chances rather than appeasing black people. News flash! no one cares about Madea and they certainly don't care if she goes to jail. It's just a stupid movie and when idiots like this over analyze it they pretty much take the fun out of the whole movie. There isn't a racial connotation to the movie and even if there was, once again who cares? it's free speech and it was made by a black dude.

These are the types of people you should be attacking on this forum. Liberals who have taken equality waaaaaay out of proportion. Liberals who are ironically, de-leveling the playing field. Liberals who believe in affirmative action. These are American's who anger me just as much as racists because they're trying to ruin our current constitution. This author puts a bad name to blacks and liberals. Disgusting.

I think it's very ironic that this movie, made by a black guy, is comically poking fun at "black culture." It's a bunch of black people making fun of their own culture, including Al Sharpton and Whoopi Goldberg. However when white people point out the cultural difference between blacks and whites, they're labeled as racists by these same people.
Whoopi Goldberg would probably admit that black culture can be very different from white culture (you don't see too many white women with dreadlocks).
And she'd also probably point out that there have been some bad things that have developed out of white culture, slavery, discrimination etc.
But if anyone suggests that black culture has produced some horrible things, then they're exiled from our PC culture.
The bottom line is: different races live together, grow together and evolve together. Because they learn from each other, they grow similarly, think similarly and act similarly. It happens with whites, blacks, asians, eskimoes and every other race there ever was. But when people talk about the shortcomings of black culture (racism against whites, rampant crime, fornication, acting "gangster"), they're called a racist and told that not all blacks are like that. Of course I understand that, just like not all japanese eat sushi, but eating sushi is still a part of japanese culture.
But unfortunately, political correctness has become a lot more important than either science or simple logic.

True. And I like your use of the phrase Black American instead of African American. It makes more sense, because every person of color isn't from Africa, they come from the Carribean sometimes, or even the British Isles. Just assuming they're from Africa assumes they have some idea about African culture (which thanks to slavery they've been removed from for some time). Because of that removal they can't exactly go back, like any 2nd or 3rd generation from a family of immigrants. So referring to them by color actually seems to be smarter and make you sound less ignorant.

that makes so much sense.

that makes so much sense.

It may not have been perfectly clear, but basically the point I'm making is this: when I say I don't like black people because of the way they act, I'm called a racist and told that not all black people act the same way and I can't make generalizations based on race. But at the same time, Obama is criticized by members of the black community for "not being black enough." So essentially they're saying that all black people should act the same way.

Where's the logic in that?

Btw, I just noticed that this politics forum has so many threads about race now, the targeted "Ads by google" include: famous black people, black chat rooms, racism and black race.
Kinda interesting.

that's what happens when you post on the internet. You either get an intelligent argument, trolled, misunderstood or you don't get noticed at all.

Equality as opposed to governmental favoritism would be nice for a change.

Affirmative action: The belief that successful, wealthy, and (hopefully) intelligent politicians have the means and competency to consult psychologists, researchers, lifestyle planners, and use scientific research to write up a detailed plan to bring a generalized, arbitrary group of millions of people to some satisfactory statistical level.

Fuck it.

Slavery and discrimination is as old as people finding out other people are a different color than they are. Even in recent history, blacks had a fair share of slavery going on in Africa. (And still do, mind you. :/ )
