We have reached that point with these features or hacks if you will. It's pretty much similar to how we had gone overboard with overbearing, Nazi like mods.
I think the thanks hack is a bit much, and so this is my bitch.

I am going to thank you for this post, how does that make you feel:D
edit: damn out of thanks
It can be removed at anytime nothing to worry about. Try to evolve.

lol, there's a limit to thanks. I think It would be cool if it was not so visible. It should stay in the profile.

I agree.
Next thing we'll have a rate-my-pic feature.

lol, @ the guy with totse in his signature.
I have no problem with changes, I just don't like clutter in my post tables..

I concur. I would like to see the "thanks" removed. I wonder what it would be like if reputation was shown numerically.

It makes the place where our user name is look fat.
Yeah, I mentioned that it looks cluttered too. Form is the other half of function; when it comes to this sort of thing, it's no less important.

Replace "pic" with "STD pic" and I think we're onto something.

Less is more, less is more, with Charmin ultra less is more!

More of something good = better than less of something good. Let's get more random things added. It's fun.. like urinals.

We are discussing how woodland creatures specifically bears wipe their ass with Charmin brand toilet paper.

.
Not sure you can really say we have overbearing nazi-esque mods. Sure some of the mods are new and can be a little over enthusiastic but I think 'I Poop's thread (about posting loli) pretty much shows that with very few exceptions you can still pretty much post whatever you like on zoklet, as long as it is in the right forum and doesn't contravene the few rules which we've always had (although they are somewhat more defined here compared to totse).

It was not really a criticism of a current situation, per se, thus why I said HAD in that statement. Demoding one of the heavy handed hitters helped even things out a bit. There are still a couple issues but they won't be resolved and it's not worth arguing them for the sake of argument.
....
I think that the amount of thanks should only be visible in the profile, OR we should be able to hide that feature.

Well I don't know which mods you were thinking of when you say 'heavy handed' but, for example, mods such as Meta and SotB were always in the frontline when it came to arguing to protect your rights to post pretty much what you want.
I wish you could see some of the things posted in M&A. You'd be surprised how the more 'nazi' mods are the ones going to bat for you.

The easy solution would be to do what Euda said, Make the M&A publicly viewable. There is no need to keep it some big secret drama. Zok should keep this place more open and user-friendly.

I might be wrong but I think I was either the first or one of the first who suggested making M&A public back on &t. Not only that but I wanted long term posters to have the right to post there too.
I've also argued publically that the mod's IRC forum should be scrapped.
Regarding the new "thanks" function, I think that Zok heard what he thought was a potentially good suggestion (in the suggestions forum, no less), and decided to give it a shot. It might be permanent. It might not. Maybe it will replace rep. Maybe not.
I agree that having rep AND thanks AND thread rating all seems a little redundant, but as dfg said, "try to evolve." I'm glad that Zok is willing and able to make updates to the forum's function, and I'm really happy that he's willing to take a decent idea and run with it, even if just temporarily.
While I hope that ultimately, we can have just rep OR thanks, I think that for the time being, this gives everyone a good chance to see which they like, and get a full assessment of which is preferable, if either.

If he was going to test it, he should put it up in all forums. I think its ridiculous that the function does not work here and in HB. People are more than capable of making quality or noteworthy threads/posts there.

This. Mods bitch about HB not having enough quality threads so you respond by putting the thanks function in every forum EXCEPT HB?
