that was interesting, how did you first come across it? annoying at the end though when you hit 'next' only to be faced with the same last page! need closure!!

Finished reading the whole thing. It's pretty good, generates a good atmosphere and stuff. A little detail, tho, is that the black background with white font was making me trip. It was fucking with my vision for some reason so I had to copy each page in notepad to be able to read it without my vision getting fucked up.

If anyone else has stories like these, please post them / post links :)

Never seen that before. I figured it was fiction but it was a really creepy read. I thought the ending was a bit tacky and predictable but it kept me well entertained for an hour (one).

Yeah this guy is right one hour is long enough time. Two is just overkill. IDK if it is real, probably not, but it was a damn well told story (tale).

BTW, I guess putting synonyms in quotes is the new Zoklet joke (meme).

Well, searching around for more background on this story i came upon this website (http://theunshaven.rooms.cwal.net/Hyperfiction/Ted%27s%20Caving%20Page%20-%20Analysis.htm) on what the author calls "Hyperfiction", with this story being a clear example of it.

Along with the analysis of Ted's Caving Page, there's another analysis on a different story called The Dionaea House (http://www.dionaea-house.com/default.htm) of similar horror characteristics. I'm about to start reading this story, not sure how good is it, just thought I'd let you guys know

Meh, finished reading The Dionaea House. It's well written as well, and it's much less linear, but had very little suspense and shit. It was more like a conspiracy theory thing, with different characters and points of view. The story's interesting, but it didn't play out the way I was hoping.

IMO The Dionaea House just plain sucked. Non-engrossing, non-absorbing, utterly predictable and rather boring.

Should I not bother reading Donna one then? Reckon anyone could sum it up for me in a sentence or two?

The black-on-white really fucked up my eyes, that could've been the reason.

Evil house lures people, several people fall into the trap. Dude investigates the house, since it caused an old friend to commit murder/suicide. People disappear.

I don't know, you might enjoy it, but it lacks the suspense and terror that the Caving Page has.

By the way anyone has that story where a house drove people crazy, and in the end it turns out the be a bunch of monitors/tvs hidden behind mirrors showing horrific images? I think I saw it as creepypasta in 4chan, not sure.

Jay
07-30-2010, 02:47 PM
By the way this is the greatest example of creepypasta ever created:

So ur with ur honey and yur making out wen the phone rigns. U anser it n the vioce is "wut r u doing wit my daughter?" U tell ur girl n she say "my dad is ded". THEN WHO WAS PHONE?

Bricks will be shat.

lawl, the mother.

The other day one of my siblings made me say the word Fork about 30 times, and then spell it several times, asked me some questions to which the answer was 'Fork' and then asked me what you eat soup with.

I still said spoon. This distraction shit doesn't work, if you know it's an attempt to distract you.

Shame it didn't continue past page ten, considering it was clearly a made up story by that stage, it would have been nice to at least hear what spooked out Joe so much before it ended.

Yeah The Descent clearly ripped this off. By the way, that pdf short story that was posted earlier is apparently not the original story, but rather an attempt to finish Ted's. Read more about it here http://grahamjw.wordpress.com/2009/09/17/ted-the-caver-mystery/

It's originally a short story by Thomas Lera. PDF (http://web.archive.org/web/20050117173007/www.dougaustin.com/tlcaves/pdf/Thefearofdarkness.pdf)

This is like a cheap plagiarized version of the original, suspenseful, overall awesome first story.

It's as if a fucking third grader took the story and slapped it with boy-scout campfire horror. Lame, lame, LAME AS FUCK. Goddamn, what a shitty version of the story.

If an editor was to blame for turning the website into this compressed piece of shit, I hope he never finds a decent job EVER. May he become homeless and his life full of strife. May his kids never return his calls. May his life slip into the black sullen oblivion of addiction, and eventually end with pathetic suicide. May his grave be unmarked and pissed upon by rats.

It's THAT bad.

It's as if someone took a Michael Crichton classic, ate it, and shit it out three days later as an R.L. Stein motherfucking Goosebumps turd.

The original was pretty fucking good, and that's saying a lot because I consider it a waste of time to read sub-par fiction.

I will quote the compressed, lameass kiddie version so anyone who reads my post won't even waste their time:

It was like a Laurel and Hardy movie scene gone terribly wrong.

Fuck that noise.

I've been in many mines and caves and can say with certainty that all the pictures on page 7 are of a mine, not a cave.

Caves don't make straight tunnels like that, also, note the heavy mineralization of the rock.
