You can find a review of it here: http://www.pcworld.com/reviews/product/31717/review/pulse_smartpen.html

I think I'm gonna get one. The most appealing part (for me) is that I would be able to sift through the tons of pages of chemistry notes I have and immediately be able to access what the professor was saying at that moment in the notes.

Holy shit. I think that actually might be too high tech for me. I didn't even think that was possible! Looks really cool though. I don't know if I'll ever want one of those or not...

I have used one before. All I did while messing around with it, is make it calculate simple math. Pretty neat, I'd use one if I we're in school.

Are you in college? I'll post updates on it in a couple of weeks and let you know how it works and if it was worth it (spring break is coming up, or I'd test it out next week).

if you're supposedly taking notes of what the professor is saying, why would you need to also need to hear what he said? i guess it would be good for journalists to get sound bites but i don't think it would help me in my classes.

Yeah, but not for much longer. I SO could have used that 4 years ago...

I'd love it if my handwriting was actually legible.

I use a graphics tablet for my regular computer use instead of a mouse - I find it's easier to navigate. But this is taking that same technology a bit farther.

I didn't have time to read all the way through the article - does it record your actual strokes or does it try to guess what letters you were writing and record THAT?

Livescribe's Pulse records sounds (your voice, or that of a lecturer, say) through integrated stereo microphones and then creates audio notes that it "ties" to your written notes. The Pulse also lets you view handwritten notes on a computer interface, but it doesn't provide a way to convert those notes to plain text.
It looks like it copies exactly what you write with no conversion.

Yep, and then it can go back when you put it into your computer and search your handwritten notes for keywords you type in!

Because sometimes it's hard to keep up with him, or things will be unclear when reviewing your notes. If this happens, you can just point to the note that's unclear and immediately get an explanation!
