View Full Version : Where my cellphone sits in my pocket, hair has fallen out. WTF

This is the closest forum I can think to put this in.

I always keep my cellphone in the same pocket, and my leg hair is missing around that area. I was wondering if this happens to anyone else, or if I should be worried.

The phone in question is a Verizon Motorola KRZR.

It probably is just caused from the constant rubbing of the weight of the phone against your skin. "Smooth Away" is a hair removal product selling as some great new invention. All it does it physically rub hair off an area. Doesn't sound fun to me.

ETA: Don't worry. Friction - Friction is not a very popular method of hair removal although some people find it effective on fine hairs of the legs and arms

Agreed. I really doubt that your cell phone and it's extremely low doses of radio output have anything to do with your hair loss.

You might try over in Carved Outta Wood, too, since that's the health forum.

I wouldn't worry about it. My cell phone is in my front pocket basically 24/7 (unless I'm using it) and I've never experienced hair loss.

Which means what happened to him isn't normal... Doesn't that mean he should worry about it? Damn counter points to your own point.

I'd guess it's just friction.

It's normal, I was actually about to post this exact same fucking thread. It might not happen to Cegstar if his pants are kinda loose. I have a pocket-inside-a-pocket so my phone sits right against my leg and that area is smoother than James Dean. I had an uncle who wore these thick pants when he was a forklift operator and the back of his legs were hairless because of it.
It's definitely not radiation related.

I meant cell-phone wise. I've never heard of it before. It's likely something else.

OP should keep something else in that pocket, and cell phone in other pocket to see what happens.

I know a guy who has no hair below his knees as a result of wearing cowboy boots almost constantly.

I was about to post that I wore these insulated rubber boots for work for a few weeks, and all the hair below my knee was gone. Probably just the friction, like other people said.

I've had that happen when I wore some huge winter boots. Fucking Canada.
