Help me make a car good for running moonshine. I am thinking about starting out with a 1978 oldsmobile holiday 88.

Moonshine is ethanol. So are you planning to run E85 or...? Where are you getting your "moonshine?"
Regardless, just about any gasoline engine can be retrofitted and tuned to run on ethanol.

Assuming you mean selling moonshine, you cant go past an orange charger. If you mean running on moonshine then as MediumD said anything can run on it with the right mods.

Nobody "runs moonshine" anymore. In fact, odds are nobody's illegally transported alcohol since the fucking 1920s.

Wasn't the whole point of having a fast car to run moonshine to out run the cops? Is that even possible nowadays?

Well, people were and still are running cigarettes and booze from low-tax counties/countries to high tax counties, or at least were in the 80s and 90s, and with the legalization of weed with retarded taxes in Canada, this is bound to return. But yeah, cop cars in the mid 1900s werent really the quickest, and if you could run past at 80 at full throttle it would be 45 seconds till the cops even hit 75, and many people made livings doing this. And yes, it is still possible. Especially outside the US, where cops arent going to put six cars and a helicopter on a speeder.

1969 Dodge Charger
Yep. Large trunk, powerful engine, and enough mass to smash puny police cars in half.

Wrong.
It's still very common in Canada and the United States, especially in reserve regions.

Alcohol is illegal in such a region. Also known as a no-fun zone, dry county, or place with (ironically) the highest binge drinking/drunk driving offenses.

I don't know what the fuck he's talking about^
But what I was referring to, was Native reserves. For some reason alcohol seems to be scarce on them, so the "smuggling" of alcohol to the often remote reserves is still a common activity.

Ah right. I had heard of dry counties but I didn't know that there were limits on the amount of alcohol you are allowed to bring into them.

I'm aware of what a "dry" county, or region means. However, I fail to see how it connects with a "reserve region".

Freightvan express has plenty of power and can handle decent besides put company sign on the side and you can cruise your moonshining out of there rather than smashing into cops and such heh.

When I was arrested I had three cops at my house. Nice guys. I was talking to them, and we got into cop car chases.
They said that pretty much anything that does 0-60 in under 6 seconds could outrun the cops.

Yes, Crown Vic P71s run 0-60 in around 7 sec, 1/4 mile is low 15s... If you've got a head start or a fast car, you might get lucky. But it's so much more complicated than that. You've probably got less than 3 minutes from when the first cop sees you to when you need to be parked and on foot a safe distance away, before other units are right on top of you..
ultimately you'll probably want a non-descript car, that looks like nearly everything else on the road. Probably Japanese.
A 69 charger or any outdated car is not the best idea.
I always thought the moonshiners favored sleepers, that is, cars that didn't look fast, but were tuned like a nascar stock car.
In fact, stock car racing is said to have its roots from the rum runners.
stock looking, but really a racer.

Can't outrun a Motorola. Unless you're completely out of sight and heading the opposite direction the cop is within about 30 seconds, you're ultimately fucked.
