So...all of a sudden my USB ports on my computer arn't working any more. Anything I connect will just not be detected at all. This just happened out of the blue. Anybody any idea how I can get them to work again?

i had something like this happen. After looking on google, we found that if you turn off your computer and the electricity at the power socket, wait a while, then restart, it should work again.

it had something to do with electricity stored in the USB ports or something. i dunno, i suck at computers.

that worked for me, so its worth a try i guess

Try reinstalling/updating the drivers.

Yer southbridge may have fried. Mine did after 5 years of dutiful service.

Are they USB ports on your Mobo or an a card plugged in to the headers or PCI? if either of the last two that one component or the connector for it might be trashed. Try investigating that.

Make sure you check for this problem again. If it's recurring then that's not good.
