This site maybe useful http://ukinusa.fco.gov.uk/en/visiting-uk/

But i guess you'd have to apply for a greencard or something like that and go through immigration as you'll be classed as an immigrant.

Like you said maybe just have a travel here first, like a working holiday visa or so. I'd welcome you and show you some things!!

Contact your local UK embassy for more information. It's quite an involved process that relies on personal variables.

Travel Advisory:
Parachutes tangle;
Brake pads fail;
Seat belts strangle;
And trains derail.
Motorbikes maim you;
Ships collide;
New boots lame you;
Stay inside.

maybe you should go there first to see if you like it. :o

i've always wanted to just move somewhere far away and live there for a long time but when I was in Europe towards the end I started to miss a lot of things from the US.

I know that UK citizens coming to the US can apply for the visa waiver program, so I assume there's a similar arrangement for US citizens traveling to the UK.

It seems like you just need to show your us passport to get into the UK.
