I started reading the Scott Pilgrim and Walking Dead comics recently, because I watched their respective movie and show. I was surprised that I really enjoyed the medium. Are there any other comics along similar lines? I'm not super interested in the DC/Marvel super hero stuff but if something is astounding, I'd give it a whirl. I only speak english, so that's kind of a requirement.
P.S. I don't know if this is the right forum.

I'm not a big fan of DC or Marvel lately either. They seem to publish the same crap over and over again.
On the DC side, I think Kingdom Come was some of the best stuff I've ever read. Sometimes Justice League is pretty good. I've enjoyed the Crisis series. I think Batman's the only character that I can still take srsly anymore and I havn't even picked up one of his comics in months.
Speaking of Batman...Frank Miller's comics; Year One, The Dark Knight Returns and The Dark Knight Strikes Again are pretty awesome.
DC's Vertigo line of comics is pretty good. I always recommend Y: The Last Man, Constantine, The Sandman (or anything else written by Neil Gaiman), The Losers, and Fables. Especially The Sandman and Fables...probably my favorite comic series ever.
Marvel...meh. I havn't read many Marvel comics since the Civil war arc. Well, The Dark Tower is a pretty good series based on the Stephen King novels. I didn't realize it was published by Marvel til a few seconds ago. :P
Hellboy and B.P.R.D., 30 Days of Night, Flight, Sin City, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, The Watchmen...there's a lot of others here, but I can't think of them all right now.
On the Japanese side of comics, I'm probably not as knowledgeable as I should be. I've read mainly the staples of manga: Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Hellsing, Full Metal Alchemist. I recommend them all if your looking for something foreign to read.

Preacher. Best comic ever. It's so epic and fuck full of win that it pretty much makes all the other comics look like lil' girly girl detective stories.

I've actually been reading preacher lately. It's pretty bad ass. The arc where Custer finds his mother again is kind of a weird tangent though...

Hmm, I'll have to check it out. I've always sidestepped it because of the movie, but I'll try everything once.

Keep reading. It ends in such a powerful climax that it literally butsts epic nuts.

Haha, yeah, I remember noticing it back when it was posted.
Shame we've lost so many talanted creative posters over the years.

The governator starring Arnold.
Haha, I heard about that. It looks like Arnold didn't steal enough while he was in office, so now he has to make up for it by whoring himself out.

-_-
Do you mean Transmetropolitan? Did you even see the picture of the front page of the issue no less than TWO POSTS above yours?
You couldn't have read Transmetropolitan if you didn't even know enough to keep from adding a non-existent article to the title.

I just found this thread, so hopefully you're still interested in finding some good comics.
I recommend these:
Fear Agent
Maus
The Ultimates 1 & 2 (I know you're not a Mavel fan but just give it a chance)
The Boys (from the creator of Preacher)
Ruins (another Marvel piece but I highly recommend it)
Invincible
Fables
Robots vs Zombies
100 Bullets
Hard Boiled
