John's Background Switcher. I've got a whole folder of pics it rotates through. I just add pics to the folder as I find them.

All of my computers have and always had stars as their background. I don't particularly care for astronomy. I just think they are the perfect compromise between a blank screen and distraction. I never change them either, I just keep the same background for years at a time =/
