I would never consider a rap song to be "epic."

Metal songs are usually epic, but not "goregoredeathbloodfuck metal" as you put it (I'm sure you're referring to death and grindcore, which both suck balls).

However, a lot of rap songs are quite good I'd say, especially old school gangsta rap (like NWA).

Shitty music exists in all forms and genres... rap has Soulja Boi and metal has all the shitty grindcore/deathcore clone bands...
