It's gonna suck. Especially since the jackoff who created lost is making it.
It doesn't make sense because Captain Pike had the Enterprise before Kirk, so if it's a 5 year mission, how come they're so young in the movie?
Actually, a guy named Jeffrey Hunter played Captain Pike in the original Star Trek pilot. Apparently he fell on his head or something and had internal bleeding and died. :p

i love lost, so that would make me want to see it more.
and movies usually always go against the orig. series anyways.

Not only that, but young Kirk was shown driving a car, even though in "A Piece of the Action", Kirk has no idea how to drive a car.
Pretty much, I see it as just another Star Wars Ep.1 except with different characters and ships.

Eh, looks like fun. The last epic flashy CGI space movie was...well, Episode 3.

There are still regular people on Earth, which I believe Kirk is at the start of the movie.
Also, he's a "rebel" who doesn't fit in... so a motorcycle is needed to show this in a movie.

This new ST film is supposed to give us an idea of what happened prior to 2245, which was when Kirk took command of NCC-1701. Star Fleet academy, meeting Spock, Scotty, and Bones, and the beginning of the 5 year mission, which is why Leonard Nimoy got to be involved (Shatner got none because he was being a cocksucker)

A ST film without Kirk? Fuck that.
I'm tired of seeing old things being redone and prequeled over and over again. I'm sick of this shit. Make something new and leave old things alone.

Wow, you're a nerd.
It's all good though. There are weirder things to be into than star trek.

Nobody wants to come up with or take the chance on new things. The well of good movie ideas has about run out.

If you need an explanation as to why kirk was driving a car or motorcycle, you should pay more attention to the current day activities of those preserving steam-powered or horse-powered equipment. Obviously the attraction of a V-8 sports car is still there hundreds of years in the future. :D
I'm hoping this will trump nemesis.
That movie was an excuse to use the phrase "dorsal shielding" and for the romulans to lose the cloak on only part of their vessels. srsly

That still doesn't explain why he had no clue what a clutch was in "A Piece of the Action"(a really shitty episode by the way. i mean, you can even see a sound stage at the end of the fucking set!).
I agree with your opinion on nemesis. That was trash. Though it was less like just an extended episode like the other movies, so I'll give it that.
Pretty much, I see the upcoming film as another convoluted storyline that will contradict with the actual series(kind of like Enterprise did).

I think it looks good. It looks exciting, which is something star trek has not been for a long time imo.

This. And it doesn't even look interesting; Oh wow now Kirk is an angsty douchebag! The ship looks like some shitty rip off of the original movie version, and the interiors are all made of iPods or something! Can't forget all the CGI 'splosions.
A friend of mine put it this way: "This is Star Trek for the idiots that made fun of people for liking Trek back when it was good."
I mean, there hasn't been any good Star Trek for more than a decade at this point, so at least one more crappy movie isn't going to somehow worsen the situation. Still, that Lost fucker and his idiot writers (I still can't believe that Michael Bay of all people was able to wrangle a funny Transformers movie out of their script) are incredibly gimmicky and overrated fanboys of the worst kind. I'm actually disgusted -though not at all surprised- that they keep finding work.

I'm a firm believer that the series should die for at least another decade before it is revived. Enterprise was just too shit.

^Agreed, it's still too soon.
And if it comes back, they should aim for quality, and not box office numbers. That is an unlikely scenario though, and sadly even though I've been a fan for as long as I can remember, I think I'm going to have to write the franchise off.

If anything it should come back in a decade or so as hard scifi which reflects upon the mood of the era. Just like Battlestar Galactica.

I can't look at the new Spock without thinking "Sylar" and expecting to see him tear someone's head open.

I've seen the trailer for the new movie and I'm quietly crossing my fingers that it won't be a major disappointment. Good ol' Spock and Kirk go way back and I hope they don't choose to make it some klingon whore that cemented their friendship in the midst of an epic Pon Farr. Kirk is and always will be the shit, the motorcycle is a pure representation of his kick-ass americanism.

It looks like typical SciFi shit that comes out every year. Hopefully it will be smashed by James Cameron's Avatar.
