Meh.
Sorry, I've been kinda busy lately. Working overtime, going through the process of getting a new job, and maybe moving to Oklahoma City in the next couple of months. Also, I've developed a recent obsession with an old game called Arcanum: of Steamworks and Magick Obscura, which has been taking up most of the free time I have left.
I still check in a few times a week, but I really haven't been watching much anime lately...sooo, nothing new to talk about here. :(
How are you people doing? :)
Hello
Looking for the next part of that Black Lagoon OVA if anybody's found it, other than that; not much anime watched either.

Best thing currently showing/about to be shown I know of are the Black Lagoon OVAs & second season of Kaiji.
Nearly everything else is moeshit cancer.

I have no fucking idea what OP said but I'll just post and keep the thread going because I'm bored...-_-
I noticed this is in movies so I'll just post my favorite movie-watch SLC Punk!
In here I always recommend Dead Leaves, so I'll watch SLC Punk and you watch Dead Leaves ok?
The last series (Or OVA, I'm not sure what it is) was Goldenboy. Something about that old hand drawn anime is very appealing to me.

Did you srsly make a post to tell people you made a new thread?
This forum's kinda dead lately. New threads tend to stand out. :P
Welcome back though. You were missed.
Also, while we're linking to our own threads. Try Deadman Wonderland (http://www.zoklet.net/bbs/showthread.php?t=165753). It's only a couple of episodes old, but it looks like it's going to be a lot fun to watch.

It references Freudian and Jungian psychology later on the series as well as has a mixture of christian overtones and some pretty good science fiction themes. Prepare for a rollercoaster, especially in the later half and the movie 'End of Evangelion' as shit gets twisty

I just started watching the movies. I think they're an improvement on the series.
Personally, I really like the Evangelion series but I don't see it as the mind-blowing work of art that most people say it is.

Remember the context. At that time all the mecha shows were either super robots that were saving the world, or 'real robots' that while realistic in tech, still had that 'can do attitude' (Zeta Gundam, while depressing, has the pilots still mentally intact relatively)
Evangelion shows how teenagers piloting giant robots subject to loneliness, pain, and mindrape would 'realistically' react. Or more accurately, in pessimistic view react. It is a deconstruction of all those mecha stereotyped built up.

True. And this is the reason that Evangelion is often mentioned in Madoka discussions. The series takes the whole magical girl genre and, like Eva did to the mech genre, it kinda twists into something new, interesting, and totally fucking awesome.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFuck. I lived in Colorado for almost three years. Every year me and my girlfriend would talk about going to Nan Desu Kan but we'd always wind up missing it because I had to work or we were broke or some stupid fucking reason.
This year, we moved to Oklahoma City. I don't even know if they have decent conventions here...

It was about different nations each making bread, and it followed this small boy in japan who discovered his hands were special and he could raise the temperature in his palms when he's kneading the bread. It made really good bread, or it was golden coloured and magical or something?

What is this obsession with Madoka? I thought it was pretty lame. Bunch of whiny little girls. I wish Kyubey had them all killed.
Plotholes abound. And so many loopholes with the wishes.

Deconstruction of Magical Girl anime for one. As in, my nigga who HATES Magical Girl anime recommended this to me and was all 'DO IT FAGGOT' to making me watch this show. We're both surprised it isn't vice-versa if it wasnt for him I wouldnt have noticed it probably.
Plotholes abound.
Well some of them (why they dont ask for unlimited wishes et all) is explained by the simple fact that Kyuubey asks lolis most of the time who rarely would notice that.
EDIT: Also theres the whole "it has lolis!" but the deconstruction and detailed plot works as well. It also deconstructs specific things, like how Homura mainly kills with guns and explosives, while freezing time. See how Kyuubey got shrapnel up his ass in that ep. Magical girls DONT DO THAT.
When's the last magical girl anime where one of the bad ass characters goes around to Yakuza dens & Japanese and US Military bases to steal weaponry for her usages. Especially given you know how those base COs will be all like 'shiiit we're fucked' (apparently armaments are anal about tracking ALL their shit; they made fun of that in some /a/ posts and comments on other forums.
