I am looking to join the marines... actually me and my little brother.we both have our g.e.d.'s.
is that a problem?
also, what are the possibilities that we both go to boot camp together?
if we did ship off too...do they allow brothers to serve together? say we both choose infantry.

the GED is accepted in the military. If its good enough for almost all colleges then it's good enough for all the fucks in the military.

You're good, dude - don't worry. G.E.D. is accepted in the military (I know plenty of people who went to my school that joined the armed forces who only had their G.E.D.)
But, like - on a more dickhead note : You......you barely graduated Higschool? WTF?

The US military accepts GEDs, high school diploma, and/or 15 college credits.
I got in with the 15 college credits, since the CHSPE is not recognized federally. It's considered the lawful equivalent of a high school diploma (NOT a GED) in California, but I guess ONLY in California. For those who need to get out of high school early for work or whatever, and don't want to settle for a GED. Heh.

I just finished enlisting in the USMC.
All four of the service branches are authorized to accept up to a certain percent of GED recruits. I cannot speak for the other branches, but as of mid-January (when I signed up) the Marines were not accepting GEDs. They made their quotas without.
To know for certain, because these things change from month to month and from area to area (the New England quota has no overlap with a West Coast quota), you should speak with a recruiter in your area and make it clear you have a GED. If he says it'll work, it's going to work. If he says it isn't, it isn't. He wants as many recruits as he can put his hands on and he isn't going to pull you around if he knows you're ineligible.
I seem to recall hearing about a system you described being in place, but you'll have to talk with your area's recruiter to be certain.
Edit: As XiPPiLLi mentioned in passing, there are other equivalents to a high school diploma which are equal in the eyes of the military. I'm sure if you speak with a recruiter they'd be more than happy to help you on that road.
