Wow, since that thread "who here makes music" I never knew so many dj's, producers , whatever their are in this forum.

Anyways, I've been learning how to dj the past few months. I am fairly efficient at Virtual DJ and just started learning traktor. Ableton is too difficult to dj in without a controller.

My next step for djing is to buy a dj controller. I'd rather have that than a mixer as I don't plan on getting into CDJS or vinyls. Can anyone recommend anything? The only thing I want are crossfaders for the highs, mids, and lows.

Now the main reason I started this thread. Producing and remixing. I have ableton live 7 and FL studio 8. I think FL studio is easier but I heard once you get past the learning curve in ableton you can do more creatively. I'm currently in the market for a midi controller (maybe a keyrig 49 or something) because I CANNOT MAKE MUSIC WITH MY FUCKING MOUSE! I just find it so damn annoying/impossible.

I know very little about ableton, i've only had it a few days. I have all the live packs but I need to know a little bit about VSTS and the basics of them.

Thanks, and I'll be defiantly filling this thread with more questions and discussion if their is interest and help.

Im going over to my friends today to go pick up a midi keyboard he has for me and to go out his new mixer. Im also thinking about getting a CDJ turntable or two but there damn expensive like $300+ I use virtual dj aswell and think its sooo easy but kinda lame.

Try Milky Tracker. You can use your keyboard as a keyboard....
And it's just pro if you get good with it.

888 -> Forget about CDJs IMO, its a lot harder than simply using a laptop with the right setup. All you need is Virtual DJ or Traktor and a mixer or dj controller. Works the same, cheaper, don't have to worry about CDs burning/skipping, etc.
