Since this is Friday the 13th, it seemed appropriate to do a thread about superstitions, even though it is a very broad topic. First, I use Deepak Chopra's definition-- "a fear or belief which is counter to natural law.' This begs the question of what natural law is, however, but it works well enough for me, especialy since it stresses fear--and many common supersstitions are, in fact, fear-based. Step on a crack, break your mothers back. Black cats are bad luck. Walking under a ladder is bad luck.
That said, it IS in fact, bad luck to walk under a black cat while carrying a ladder. Ahem.
Seriously folks, I don't think that there is such a thing as luck, unless one wills it so. People who genuinely think they are unlucky will manifest that in their lives. Those who live in the flow--what the Dine call "hozro," walking in beauty--being in tune with the All, in other words--often find that the Universe itself conspires to manifest their desires--this sure LOOKS like luck.
