In Europe?
And especially in AMERICA. Makes me wanna puke. We won the war faggots, why is this overpriced wedding being talked about by the people of the one true and great country in this world?
The bride is pretty smangin though.

Because girls are herd animals, and will like/do/get excited about any and everything their friends do. Also, it's on tv which makes it like a thousand times more important

I know nothing about England, I just found out yesterday that the Queen of England never got married so thats why there's no King of Engladnd!!!!
Is it uncommon for a prince to marry a commoner? They marry other royal people?

I don't think that many people care about. Young people are either apathetic, anti-monarchist, or casually support the monarchy and go along with the wedding just for entertainment people.
Older people either get attached to patriotic bullshit or just go along because it's the 'right thing to do' as an unquestioned cultural norm.
For people not under that royal branch, I don't know. I guess just curious, perhaps even a naive desire for royalty of their own, and of course it's just an extension of celebrity culture. People have always aspired to be royalty, it works as a good form of social control. Why do little girls dress up and say they are princesses, even in places that have never had royalty of it's own? Same reasons.
I couldn't give a fuck really. My only hope is more publicity of the royals means faster realisation of the inevitable growth of republicanism, even if just because people are more aware that they're under a monarchy.

No, phaggot. She is married to Prince Philip who, as it happens, is a total gangstar http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_Philip,_Duke_of_Edinburgh
But when a queen marries a man, he doesn't become king, because a king would be superior to the queen. However, when a king marries then his wife can be queen, since she's still lower in rank.

Well Diana wasn't Royalty either, and tbh these days no one would really care much. So long as they have good genetics, that is, and the Middletons do seem to.

The Queen did get married. Depending on the context, different things would normally happen. If they were insistent about maintaining the same royal house, she'd be queen regant (the monarch) and he'd be king consort (the monarch's wife, normally this is a queen because males are preferred as rulers and they're wifes become consorts; queen consorts). Historically though, somebody from another house becoming king consort after marrying a queen from the current royal house wouldn't be ridiculous. For some reason, the queen's husband isn't king consort but is instead a prince. I don't know why.
He was also from other european royal families himself, which is common. Royalty typically don't ever marry commoners, it pretty much never happens though there are no formal blocks. The only King I can think of who married a commoner (an american woman, a divorcee) abdicated due to controversy of her being a divorcee, an american, and a common woman. Nowadays they don't normally marry foreign royalty 'cause the historical reason (alliance) isn't there in constitutional monarchies, but they instead marry other aristocracy from their own country. As an example, people imagine diana as a princess of the people, but she was some daughter of a duke and related to the royal line distantly anyway.
Basically, they're still very closed off and old-fashioned. That seems to be ending a generation at a time.

That's not true. King itself isn't superior to Queen formally, though they are often preferred. A king consort is powerless to a queen regnant, like Queen Victoria for example.
Plus, Diana wasn't exactly royalty, but she wasn't a commoner. She was an aristocratic with royal connections. She was pretty much the perfect combination of the old and new privilege classes, partially from landed aristocracy and partially from fabulous bourgeois wealth.
Oh, and though middleton is formally a commoner, she's far from common.
Common people don't live in places like this, but since the end of feudalism, people who are classed as 'commoners' by the old aristocratic system can.

That's not true.
What decides the title of the monarch's consort, is it up to the particular monarch or does it depend on who the consort is and perhaps when they were married or some shit?

Well historically, royal weddings being diplomatic shit, it would have been in the talks between the two camps. Nowadays, I think the culture of constitutional monarchy with the popular expectation that it represents their nationality will mean no foreigner ever becoming regnant over the 'native' dynasty.
Basically, I don't know the formal procedure, but a lot will be down to just common sense and the realities of the situation.

Americans love it. I wouldn't know why as I am not from America, maybe it's the deeper history involved with the British Royal Family than that of their own country, or perhaps to them it seems like such a bizarre thing to still have Kings, Queens, Prince's etc... prancing about and looking down at the peasants from Buckingham Palace.
It's not a common occurance and is such a traditional thing it gets a ton of fags excited. I find it all bizarre but I am still in deep admiration of the Royal Family. They are the ultimate "haters gonna hate" models in existence today.

She's marrying a 'commoner' so the rest of us in virtual poverty won't think monarchies aren't that bad. Fuck you though I live in America and woke up at 9am pacific.

It was during this time he began corresponding with his cousin Elizabeth
After the war, Philip was granted permission by George VI to marry Elizabeth.

I watched some of it just in case... thought some ass might try something and get shot in the face by a sniper or a guard in fancy dress. Would have been lulz. Pretty cool to see the oldschool guards escorting the carriage after the ceremony.

She's not even that hot. Also, who cares? I bet a commoner will do a better job being queen than the last two presidents have done ruling America.
