View Full Version : Helping gauged ears heal up.

I found better fit to post this in the general carved out of wood forum because I am not trying to pierce myself up anymore, more or less solve a physiological issue.

I had my ears gauged down to a 2 months ago and the holes still remain. Sometimes my ears get fever, this is not painful but is signs of an infection. I think I have narrowed down what is causing my swollen throat lymph nodes to this. When I take showers I try to rub my lobes in between my fingers in the water daily in hopes I can maybe get them clean enough to where this will no longer be an issue.

If I could just get these holes healed up/sanitized enough maybe?

Anyone know of anything I could be on em to remedy this problem or any advise?

wash it with soap and warm water twice daily, without fail, srsly dont miss a single washing.

dont touch your ears unless your washing them, and dont sleep on them.

if signs of infection get worse see a doctor who will prescribe you antibiotics to help fight the infection, nothing too serious if you do it early. simple as that

Yeah I think this is probably a good idea. I don't know about using hydrogen peroxide and antibiotics but I think if the holes are kept clean hopefully they will quit getting infectious.

Basically I think what is happening is my lobes are getting infected sometimes which is causing my lymph's to swell up in my throat. I'm just hoping this problem wont require some kind of surgical procedure due to dirt of contaminants getting stuck in my lobe or some stupid shit like that.

How about not becoming a douche bag by getting gauges?

That would work too.

I regret it.

I'm confused. Do you still wear jewellery? How big are the holes? The lymph nodes is a sure sign of infection.
Don't wash with soap man. Keep you're jewellery in for drainage (downsize if it's tight) and make sure it's non porous material such as SSS google what to wear in fresh piercings if you're not sure). Don't touch the bloody things unless you're hands are as sterilized as you can get them and don't disturb them or play with them during the day. I'd say take the jewellery out once maybe twice a day if they need cleaning and give your holes warm sea salt soaks twice a day (again google if you don't know what I'm talking about) and I'd use as hot as possible (without being unpleasantly or painfully hot) water as I find that really helps to sooth inflamation and such. As I said before, don't use soap, it will do more harm than good. Sea salt soaks are your best friend.

No I've had the jewelry out for months now. I would occasionally get fever in my ears but nothing extraordinarily painful. I recently began washing with soap multiple times a day (the soap I'm using is all natural bar soap from taoofherbs), however I should probably stop doing that.

basically its as if the un-completely healed up holes are creating infection. Seems as though I have not had feelings of fever in my ears for a while but my lymph nodes are not decreasing in size. I've tried using Christopher's infection formula which is suppose to have lymphatic system cleansing property's but even after sustained use I didn't really notice any change. Apple cider vinegar (which I can barely fucking stand the taste/smell of) didn't seem to impact the problem either. Which leaves me to believe the source of infection (my ears) is not going away.

I would really like to get this shit squared away before I go to MEPS / progress in military..

I really don't want to put more jewelry back in the holes as the reason I took them out was for employment and military reasons.

Ill look into sea salt soaks..

Any other suggestions would be highly appreciated.

aloe vera would greatly speed up the healing process.

I see. I've heard of that shit, think I remember people using it for sunburns. I got the Polyactil/Petroactil combo pack in the mail a couple days ago. Been applying both of em as directions.

I think they may be feeling better, god I hope this heals up my ears.

uh, www.bmezine.com

you only went to a 2, they'll close eventually without a problem as long as you didn't rip them at any point.

i've had mine out for 7 years and they've never closed... but i went to 3/4". they're pretty small now, but they'll never close without plastic surgery. i've never heard of someone with a baby gauge having any problem getting them to close.

good luck though :)

Wash everything with alcohol/hydrogen peroxide maybe?

Personally I just put neosporin on any stab/slice/puncture wounds and it works great.

Hell, just a few weeks ago I shanked my hand like it owed my money in prison with a screwdriver... went right to the bone. Just put neosporin on that bitch and cleaned the wound every day and it healed up without me having to go to the doctor or anything.

If you're already infected though, get on an antibiotic course and maintain your piercings thoroughly and religiously.

Also, you could be having an allergic reaction to the material... try different plug materials if these keep bothering you.

Yeah I don't know what the fucking deal was with this shit. My ears are no longer getting feverish at intervals like when I am out doing shit and getting all red and hot looking so that is definitely a plus. As far as the lymph nodes are concerned I am highly positive I have narrowed that down to being caused by my ears, they however have not really changed much (if at all). :(
