So I'm going camping this summer in an old car.

Anyhoo, we need propane bottles, the small coleman kind: http://www.caravanning-online.co.uk/acatalog/coleman-prpane-MED.jpg

The thing I am wondering is, how do we store these things. Can we buy them before we go? Can we leave them in the car? What if the car is in the sun? Should we leave them at the campsite? Can we really leave them outside all the time?

I don't like handling propane. I used to be afraid of it, not anymore, and can handle it correctly but I still prefer to play it safe all the time.

I'd like thorough explanations of how to safely store and handle propane during a trip where we will move from place to place around every two days.
Also, how/when to know when the tank isn't safe for use.

I guess we will bring a single canister, perhaps two, but one should be enough.

He's too busy selling propane and propane accessories to teach me, sadly.

you can buy them before you go try to keep them standing up and capped if possible but it dosent really matter if you dont

the only issue with a hot car might be that it might loose some of the gas if there is a pressure relieif valve just keep em in the trunk

your probably going to want more than 2 of these things allmost every walmart/ camping store sells them though so you can find more if you run out

honestly i have left these things in the trunk of a car tossed them in my back hall for years and let them get rusty and dented ect your not going to hurt yourself with them
