Allow quotes in signatures

Many people like to put quotes from other members in their signature, but it seems that the QUOTE tags don't work in signatures for regular users. What is the reason for this and can we change it?

He edited it out, along with a bunch of other funny shit he said, moved my (sardonic) posts out of the thread, dumped it in BLTC and then deleted some of the more bonkers posts he left on my user CP.

How did this thread turn from quotes in signatures to "Hey everyone, let's hate on ate!"? I think ate's a cool poster, sure he's batshit insane, but he's perfect for the section he mods and I don't see why people have such a problem with the guy.
