You fucked up; Maybe you botched a job and want to distance yourself from the evidence that the police will inevitably find. Maybe you have a criminal record and don't want that to go against you if you get arrested again. Perhaps you're on the run from an unjust system seeking to take your freedom away from you. In the latter cases, the cops will have your fingerprints, picture shots, everything.
And yet there are billions of people on the planet. Surely you can manage to pass yourself off as one of them, right? Anybody who's not your birth name listed in the system. Dye your hair, wear colored contacts, acquire a new SSN, burn your fingerprints as inconspicuously as possible.
What would it take?
Scenario 1: A cop pulls you over in a car that's not in your name for speeding.
Scenario 2: You get arrested for trespassing. Your fingerprints and mugshot will be taken. (Assume ones matching your birth name are already in the system)
Scenario 3: You get sentenced to 2 months in the county jail under an assumed identity.

pretty fucking hard. just from all angles. you'd need the SSN, not necessarily fingerprints if they have no record, no fake ID is gonna pass period.. etc.

yeah, a fake ID could conceivably pass for real providing it was high enough quality and the information including license number was accurate.
I believe there have been cases of identity theft where people have registered for drivers licenses with stolen info and been charged with crimes only for the real person to find they have a criminal record months or years down the road.

I know someone who has done this definitely more than a few times.
He had someones ID, that looked like him, and memorized/knew the persons info.
Simple as that.
As for the finger prints and such....I have no idea how he pulled that off.
If I wouldnt have seen it with my own eyes, I wouldnt have believed it.
If I still knew him, Ide ask, but I dont.

Naw off your fingertips so they can't do your prints
Have facial reconstruction every few years like Rogue

One of those 'novelty' IDs online, probably no... but if you've got a SSN and can forge the raised seal on a birth certificate you could become them without much issue. (For anyone serious about faking identities, a simple notary emboss should be cake.)
It probably varies by state but the system here is back-fuckwards.
I lost my wallet about two years back, and my SocSec card had long since disintegrated from age.
I went to the DMV to get my license reissued with just my birth certificate and a few paystubs in hand, and they said they needed my SocSec card... nothing else could be used to verify ID... had to be that card.
So I went to the SocSec office to get a new card printed with my birth certificate and pay stubs... and they said I had to have a State issued ID... nothing else could be used.
I drove back to the DMV and asked what the fuck kind of sick game I was playing, and they explained I needed to ask the SocSec office for a temporary card. Wat? Ok... so I drive back again. They won't give me a real SocSec card with just a name and birth certificate, but they'll give me a temporary card... which is just the SSN printed out on a sheet of paper on their letterhead. :s
So I take this printout back to the DMV... and they accept this as proof of my SSN... and reprint my ID. I then take this ID back to the SocSec office... and that becomes proof of ID to get the card reprinted.
Hell, I don't even think you'd need to know your own SSN (lots of folks don't have them memorized) if you had that birth certificate. The SocSec office will look it up and hand it to you. *facepalm*

I heard that police are sloppy when it comes to international/interstate birth certificates, say someone was dead and you had that birth certificate, it would be very unlikely that the fact that they were dead (or possibly still alive) would get discovered in any of those three scenarios, or in any ID checks when getting proof of identity documents *legitimately*

Birth certificates a generally checked off against death certificate records, if a dead persons BC shows up in cross checking that they have been issued a DC you won't be able to get ID with that birth certificate. However if they have only recently died due to data entry and interfacing you have a window of opportunity.

Where i am, they don't seem to check the death records internationally, well they might seriously give it a go if you do something serious, but half of them just can't be fucked or smthn, they seriously just passed my mates and gave him a passport and medicare card a few weeks ago. Then again, i live in a desert in australia, so... As long as the rego number is legit with the name then who cares if it's not the authentic BC, we burnt the other one...
