Can you just assemble a party, sign up and get publicising?

I'm talking from a British viewpoint.

This was one of the finest pieces of underhand racism I've ever seen.

When you're in charge you could change that.

Yes you can!

That's the reason I'm interested. I want democracy back damnit. If I was in charge I'd make a public poll for pretty much every law passed.

Political idealism has usually all but evaporated by the time people even get close to possessing real power. Do you really think you'll be any different?

No, please, don't do that.

I can only hope. I'm not power-hungry, and I'm pretty mild about things. And the only reason I care about politics is because they scare the living shit out of me in their current progressing state. All I would do - and you must understand most of this is hypothetical, considering I'm a computing student - is try to clean this shit up. Reduce the police state, enforce democracy, stop the ridiculous terrorist witch-hunt shit that the state is using to their own ends. If I became corrupt my family would probably hate it, and I don't like that thought one bit. Worst comes to the worst, people vote me off by the end of my term.

The government should answer to the people, not the other way round. ALL opinions should be taken into consideration, before going by the majority or utilitarian decision. Currently, the things being done by the government are to gain more and more pure control, and to creep into every aspect of innocent civilians' lives. What's more, they are being done with little to no allowance of opposition. In my perfect (to me) idea of the government, they would open up and be forced to explain themselves and rely on what their country thinks.

I think Churchill was spot on when he said that the best argument against democracy is having a five minutes conversation with the average voter.

Really I'm glad they don't do referendums for everything.
