I'm talking about the main forum page.

Instead of being categorized, they should be listen from top to bottom, from most popular to least popular. I'm proposing this be done through some kind of mathematical routine.

For the longest time, TOTSE didn't have forum categories and people found what they wanted just fine.

Instead of downright changing it, an option to list them differently would be cool. VB doesn't have anything of the sort though, we'll probably have to build it from scratch.

It's an interesting idea though. How would it calculate what's popular? Total posts/ Total threads or something?

Yeah, I think a way to personalize the order of the forums would be cool, but it's been proposed before and it sounds like it would be too much work for something that's rather inconsequential. Anyway, I think organizing them by popularity would actually decrease the amount of traffic that some of the less popular forums get just by people scrolling by them--which would be unfortunate.

This. I think we should put our less popular forums at the top, see if we can't give them a little traffic boost that way. I remember the book forum on totse was near the top for some reason, and it always got a lot more traffic that the book nook does.

thats a good idea lanny i think another way to increase traffic to the forums no one wants to post in would be to randomly redirect the popular forums to those like you click Generally SPeaking and it takes you to the book forum that would probably be easier to do than having customizations
