View Full Version : CS:S cd key question

I bought CS:S off eBay, and when I tried to register it, it said the cd key had already been used. I did not know the game was used. Already contacted steam, waiting for them to email me back. If they won't fix it, what are my other options, besides getting my money back, that's my last option.

unless steam support helps you, i'm going to say that you got fucked on ebay. it's only $20 retail, just buy it on steam.

Yeah I'm confused as to why you didn't just buy it off Steam in the first place. eBay is so shady, and you couldn't have saved that much money when you factor in shipping costs.

Because I'm on 56k, and didn't want to buy it and have the internet tied up for days while it downloads. Oh, and I only paid $6 for it. I can't find anywhere that sells it around here.

Why the fuck would you buy a mostly online multiplayer game if you have 56k?

Exactly.

Just go play shitty ass runescape if you can't afford a decent connection.

They have 56k dedicated servers, and clans.

Don't you think if anything besides dial up or sattelite was available I would have gotten it by now?

Because CD keys found in a public space occupied by millions of people won't be in use...

STEAM won't help you, since you purchased a CD key which is in a legal grey area and I believe is against STEAMs T&C.

So I'm completely fucked, and need to just get my money back? Oh, does anyone know anything about cracked steam?

Can you not get your money back through Paypal, since the product is technically fake?

A key gen?

Will that work? I'm off to the pirate bay.

EDIT: Back, found one keygen, 5 leechers, 0 seeds, googled it and found a lot of stuff like this:

There is NO keygen for steamgames. They are ALL trojans/keyloggers/steamlogin stealers.
Delete the Program immediately, it will only harm your Computer!

Meh, fuck it. I'll get my $6 back.

There is a cracked version of Counter Strike: Source floating around on thepiratebay. Get you're money and check it out if you like. CSS would be fucking useless on 56k. Don't pay money for it.

Oh yeah, and since you're on 56k, get a friend to download CSS for you... lol.

Fuck I almost forgot how much dial up sucked! (I switched from 56kps to a 12mbps(sometimes 16) connection last August.)

Cracked games and keygenned games, especially Steam dependent ones, will NOT run on the internet.

Cracked Steam allows you to download any game, but you can not play any of them online. It gives you a large single player experience, but no multiplayer, which is what a lot of steam games are about.
