Am I missing something? I can't thank anyone, there's no 'thank now' button or anything. Do I have to wait a certain amount of time? I can't find anything through search, I somehow get no hits for 'thank'. What's going on?

There's a limit of Thanks per day, 10-15 I think, there are some forums you can't thank in(BC/trash?) and you can only Thank once per post.

No, it was not retarded. Consider the search engine. If you want to find out "why are black people so tall?" you would probably search that phrase on Google or some other search engine rather than make a thread on a forum about it. Similarly, if someone on this message board wanted to know why they are unable to give thanks, they could search "how to thank" on this forum's search engine and find this thread where they would find the answer to their question, thus avoiding the need to create any new threads. This eliminates potential clutter from the message board, leaving a higher concentration of content-filled, informative threads which will endure as long as the internet exists such as "add an occupy wallstreet banner or ad."
