Transmetropolitan is a comic book series written by Warren Ellis detailing the violent and drug-addled exploits of a journalist by the name of Spider Jerusalem, essentially a futuristic Hunter S. Thompson. Equipped with a bowel disrupted gun and a cigarette smoking two headed cat he covers a couple presidential elections, riots, cultural movements, and other happenings in megapolis know as The City. Its a pretty well-written portrayal of an extremely unique and semi-dystopian future. By no means is it solely about drugs or violence either, although both make healthy appearances.
But I'm sure plenty of you have read it. Any favorite stories/characters/etc? And by some off chance you haven't I suggest you swing by your local library, definitely a must read for any former Totsean.
Apparently if the movie adaption goes through the creators have expressed interest in Tim Roth as a first choice pick for Spider. Patrick Stewart is getting a little old anyways. ;)
