This AFM was developed primarily by Maxim Shusteff, working within the lab of Prof. Scott Manalis in the Department of Biological Engineering, at MIT.
What are you going to use it for? Looks expensive, most of the singular part components are 100$+ a piece, props if it works.

Oh wow nice, more power to you especially if its for that course. Anything specific you going to try with it, crazy mad scientist status? In fact i am pretty lacking in that subjects area but its got a laser that shoots to a "cantilever" which through voodoo magic is received by the support computer and allows you to see retarded amounts of detail hehe? That's what I got out of skimming over the wiki on it at least lol.
Any idea if the software is difficult to use, you say courageous is that doubt in building or operation on it hehe? Lots-o-question ftw
