Ive seen mentions of ammonium nitrate being mixed with aluminum a few times but cant find much on it. So, can you mix ammonium nitrate with straight aluminum powder, and in what ratio? And how hard is it to detonate? Thanks. Also, an unrelated HE question; what is required to detonate a 90/10 potassium chlorate / petroleum jelly mix?

Ammonal has some TNT in it I believe. 70 AN/20 Al/10 TNT

The chlorate/jelly mix would probably need 1g or more of a primary. You may want to look up a chlorate/FO mix though.

Firstly, I saw that site already and was wondering if the TNT can be scrapped, hence saying STRAIGHT aluminum powder. Also, I know it is called cheddite but I wasnt sure if it was a common term so i just said what it is.

Sorry dude, rough day. Was fucking raining, I spent 12 hours today tying knots in det cord.

Anywayzzz, cheddite is pretty hard to get to work. You've gotta have a consistent mix and good quality chems. It's really insensitive too. ANAl is usually, somebody help me here if I'm fucked up, ~80/20 AN:Al.

Thanks dude, its all good. What a disappointment though, I thought cheddite looked really good.
