Does this piss anyone else off? You're rocking out to some nice metal music, when you listen to the lyrics or read them off the net and they're all about fucking feelings and being afraid and love or a fucking breakup or something lame like that. Irritates the fuck out of me.

That thee was unable to understand lyrics without looking on internet means thee has not ear for metal, back to limp-dicked rock music, bitch! proclaims Rolf.

I generally have a problem picking up lyrics. I even have trouble listening to people speak in my own country, I need a lot of enunciation usually.

I love Dark Tranquillity.

Although, I have to admit I don't normally actually listen to lyrics in any music, much how I don't specifically listen to drums, or guitars. I guess I see it as just another instrument.

That is likely why I also like a lot of metal that you can't understand, unlike most people.

Yea I feel you man. It aint metal unless it involves raping a corpse with a machete and satan worship. Plus they should be wearing lots of makeup and full suits of armour. Yea that shit is bad-ass. Fucking brutal man slayer manupsideowncrosses man.

Here's your first problem and I only realised it about 20 seconds into listening to the first song... If a band has someone who plays one of these:

Then they're not a metal band.

I just don't look up the lyrics because most of the time it just spoils things for me.

I want to be screaming about putting my child in a garbage disposal and burning down my house with my family inside.

Word.

I don't even look up lyrics anymore, if I can't understand the vocalist. Half of the time it'll be about romantic love and breaking up or some other gay emo shit like that. Totally ruins the song with that in mind.

I find metal with unconventional lyrics refreshing. There's plenty to choose from if you just wanted to listen to music about raping corpses and burning churches.

This reminds me of somebody who got pissed off about the fact the song Lola was about a transsexual, like it was a bad thing about he felt deceived or something. It's an awesome song with unconventional lyrics.

Not necessarily. Keyboards can be good. Theres a lot of tracks on Sabbath Bloody Sabbath that use keyboards

And it's the start of the decline of Sabbath. Anything that came after Vol 4 (the only exception being Heaven And Hell) could never live up or be as awesome as the first 4 albums in any way.
It's the same with Iron Maiden, Somewhere In Time and Seventh Son were good albums, but they're not as good as the albums between Iron Maiden and Powerslave.

Are there any bands or albums you would consider exceptions?

Can't think of any off the top of my head.
