View Full Version : Do you use sunscreen?

If yes, what brand?

Also, do you ever have this problem of the sunblock/sunscreen feeling greasy?

Second question, does your sunscreen give a white cast to your face? Mine does and it contains Titanium dioxide, which is naturally white. I want to know if there are brands out there that are equally effective but don't have this particular drawback.

Thanks.

Yes, on my face.

Shiseido FPS 50. Not greasy at all and it spreads well so you don't need to use much. A bit expensive though.

If you're getting a white sheen you're probably using too much.

Only if I'm gonna be outside in the sun without a shirt on all day, like if I'm going to the beach. Only something like SPF 20 though; I tan really easily and find it very hard to burn, and I like to get a good tan.

Is it broad-spectrum, as in, it covers both UVA and UVB?

The bottle doesn't say, I don't have the box/paper anymore.

I would assume no.

Whatever's cheap. I go through a thing of it each week. Working outside all day in Florida will give you cancer.

What are the dangers of not wearing sunscreen? I work outside and when it's summer time I never wear a shirt, Niether does my dad and he has like little freckle looking dark spots on his back. His back is always red too.

/\ I live in Canada and it gets up too like 35 celsius.

I don't use it, I am allergic, I get a red rash where ever I put it, and my skin goes blotchy for days.

Only started happening last year.

Natural sunlight or a questionable concoction of sun-blocking false security?

I'll take my chances.

Usually not. Unless I'm going to be out in the sun for a long time with a lot of skin showing, then I won't bother. And when I do use it, I use the spray on shit, it's less oily and just faster and easier to put on.

SPF 8 Hawaiian Tropic, I only use it because it smells good. I have gotten a couple girls this way actually haha.
On my face I use SPF 30 of whatever is cheap.

You can get skin cancer; also you might get wrinkles prematurely (this is actually my main concern)

wow you have me beat...just make sure it's broad spectrum (as in, it covers both UVA and UVB)

It's not a "false" sense of security; sunscreen does help towards warding off skin cancer.

I use whatever I can find but I can still get burned if it's under SPF30. I have to use it or I end up looking like a lobster from 4 hours or less out in a Midwest summer and sometimes spring. The blue eyes and blonde hair were not worth this ultra pale skin. It just doesn't allow me to be a day person. Nighttime FTW.

I never wear sun screen.

In fact, when I start working and can afford to tan I'll be bronze all year long

I hate sunblock but I hate sunlight even more and I wear sunblock when I have no other choice, although looking 'too white' isn't a concern.

Walking in the shade and wearing sunglasses + hat is what I prefer to do.

I don't have a problem with the sun. It's incredibly hard for me to burn. I do however tan a slightly red tint, due to the Native Indian on my dads side. But as I said, I'm white, green eyes, brown hair, but it's harder than hell for me to burn. And I tan pretty easily. But no, I don't wear sun screen unless I'm in Louisiana or Florida.

So you would be more a Deet kinda guy?

Back to topic--heck yes, I use it--Alaska summer sun can be brutal and we get like 20 hours a day of it at this latitude. I also wear a broad-brimmed hat--kinda like a stetson--and UV-proof polarized sunglasses.

You don't have to burn to sustain photodamage. In other words, you can still get skin cancer even if you don't burn/tan. In fact, it's even more likely that you will get cancer (compared to someone who does tan) because the tan actually offers protection against the sun.

Spray on shit. It's sticky but I don't use it on clothed areas and it goes away after a while. Mostly just spray it on my face and neck for bike rides. The top of my legs and arms, too. Those get burned really bad.

-red hair
-fair skinned
-freckles
-blue eyes
-family history of skin cancer

That's every single at risk factor for skin cancer right there, and I have them all. Wear it whenever the sun dares show itself.

not that expensive if you use the "five finger discount" - sunscreen is a very easy lift!

Hard to lift when it's on the other side of a counter in a classy boutique.

Sunscreen's too greasy. In fact, the higher the SPF the greasier it is. My make up has zinc in it, it's really all I need.

Don't need to very often but yeahhh.
I just use any generic brand though
greasyness doesn't really bother me much.

I use Chanel UV Essentiel spf 50+ (broad spectrum with vitamin E to combat free radicals) on my face - I love it.

On my body, I use either Clinique sunscreen spf 50 or Lancome's soleil dna guard in spf 50, both are broad spectrum.

I should. I usually do when I go swimming or hiking or something, but I really should start wearing it just for sunny days, since I work outside sometimes.

I just feel like a little bitch doing it, but on the other hand I don't want to be a leathery old bag when I'm 40.
