When my school (highschool) ends in May, I'm planning to set off 'somewhere' for about a month. I was wondering if there were any programs/online sites that offer free accommodations in return for me teaching english/math..etc or just plain manual labour.

Craigslist seems shady (and international CL is almost empty), and penpal is full of little kids.

Right now, I'm considering just about anywhere: France, India, Japan, Germany, Vietnam... you name it.

I'm 18 by the way.

This is more on the "manual labor" end of the spectrum, but check out http://www.wwoof.org/ also http://www.workaway.info/

Try Letternet. That's like an adult pen-pal thing.

If you find a job at a resort, they normally offer staff accommodation. If you go to work in a labour camp job, then you get a place to live at the camp.

Summer workers are always needed for strawberry picking, mainly in Denmark, but also in Sweden. Just search the web.

Couchsurfing has worked fine for me on several occasions.
